The Jog-A-Thon
The 9th annual McNear Jog-A-Thon is coming up on October 9th!
For those of you who aren't familiar with this event, The Jog-A-Thon is our first major fundraising effort of the year and our second largest fundraiser overall. Students participate by collecting pledges from friends & family before they complete the run with their classmates on Oct. 9th. The pledge packets and additional information will be sent home in the Wednesday folders on 9/26, so keep an eye out for that as well as for updates in the newsletter over the coming weeks! Contact Sarah Shah with questions at sarahbjohnson@gmail.com.
Community Garden Work Day!
The Annual Harvest Festival
We can't wait to have you join us for our annual Harvest Festival taking place Saturday, October 27th from 11am-2pm! Come in costume - there will be a costume contest at 12:30pm with the raffle baskets being given away around 1pm. Bring friends from the community, this is not an exclusive event for McNear families. Help spread the word!
For $10 there is unlimited fun on the HUGE obstacle course, rock wall, carnival games, face painting, cookie decorating, carmel apples, garden craft tables, the cake walk and more. Due to popular demand Bubblemania will be back with all they have to offer!
Food will be sold with choices from Bodega Food Truck,as well as BBQ'd hot dogs and home-made tamale plates.
Keep your eyes out for the request for raffle basket items in your Wednesday folders - the baskets are always a much loved item to win! We will also be sending a sign-up genius asking for volunteers to help at the event, it can't happen without members of the McNear community just putting in a little time! You can start putting your creative baking hats on, we will be asking for cakes for the cake walk as well!

Update From McNear Art and Science Center (MASC)
Exciting stuff is happening in the McNear Arts and Science Room (MASC). The robotics team is in full swing, ceramics class has begun, and students are building puppets for the upcoming play! The MASC Committee is working hard to design initiatives for school day integration (stay tuned!), and teachers have begun Professional Development on how to leverage various robotics equipment acquired from PEF grant funds to empower students to code and engineer!
If you are interested in joining the team reach out to Ramsey Musallam (ramsey.musallam@gmail.com) and O’Meara Cover (omearacover@gmail.com) anytime!
The Principal's Corner
A Message from Ms. Eichert
Want to help make decisions about our school? Please consider joining site council. School site council is a group of teachers, parents and classified employees that work with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. Members of site council are elected by their peers. Site council members review school data, help to shape and reflect on our school vision and goals, assess progress and create a plan for improvement. Site council meets after school about five or six times over the course of the year. If you are at all interested in joining the McNear School Site Council, I will be hosting drop in information office hours between 3-5 on October 2nd. If you cannot make this but are still interested please email me: Leichert@petk12.org. Looking forward to working with you to make this a meaningful process of input, information sharing and planning.
