Hail to the Presidents
Week February 20-24
Third & Fourth Grades
We thank our Presidents most especially Washington and Lincoln for giving us a day off yesterday.
And...
We pray for our Nation's leader that all the decisions are guided by the Blessed Trinity.
This week 4th Grade will be hosting the Thursday mass. If you have an hour or more please join us.
Next week 3rd Grade will be coordinating the first Lenten Thursday mass, but we are also celebrating the Ash Wednesday mass. All the masses will be at 9:00 in the morning.
I thank Mrs. Nolting and Mr. Farias for reading at the Ash Wednesday mass. They represent the Faculty and model to the students how reverent and important is the Word of God.
For the Lenten Season we are asked to Fast, Pray, and Give-Alms.
The 3rd and 4th Grade students will
FAST - and give up talking while we eat. This may sound simple, but the students really feel the difference. Conversation may commence as soon as we leave the building and go outside for Recess. This fasting from talking will be but a short 20-25 minutes. We will do this for Wednesday and Friday. It begins next week on Ash Wednesday.
PRAY- every Monday morning during Lent the two classes will get together and pray the rosary - in bilingual form.
GIVE ALMS - each student will pick up a 'rice bowl' and fill it up during Lent. If they wish they may take another once that is full. But we ask for at least one full bowl.
I suggest you find a family Lenten sacrifice - read the Bible, pray, go to mass together, visit the sick, help a neighbor, etc.
Lent is only 40 days (Sundays do not count.) It begins March 1 and ends on Easter Sunday.
Jamba Juice!! Selling Thursday after school.
No more Valentine trinkets but the Student Council is still selling popcorn on Fridays.
Thank you Parents for ALL the support you give to the school, to me, to everyone at school.
Keep reading, and practicing those flash cards. It really makes a big difference.
