Early years

Pope John Paul II was the youngest of three children that Karol Wojtyła and Emilia Kaczorowska had. He was ordained as a priest on All Saints' Day, 1 November 1946, by the Archbishop of Kraków, Cardinal Sapieha.

Pope John Paul II wrote many Encyclicals, such as "Redemptor Hominis" (The Redeemer of Man) and "Misericordia" (Rich in Mercy) His successor is Pope Benedict XVI.
