Life at Ambleside
I am, I can, I ought, I will
From the Desk of Mrs. Flora and Mrs. Vosburg
I hope this newsletter finds each of you well. I would like to applaud each of you for your efforts with at home learning. This time period is odd for many of us and it will continue to take time to find a rhythm that works for each family. Please continue to give grace to one another during this time. Please take time this weekend to rest and recharge.
As we enter the third week of at home learning the Ambleside faculty has created a list of some tips and hints that can help you navigate the next two weeks.
1. Stick to a schedule similar to one used at school. Students should be completing their work during the day as they would at school. This will help avoid melt downs associated with being tired.
2. Utilize the time parameters given below by teachers as a guide for how long each day should take. These time parameters are for focused work. If you find that it is taking significantly longer request a zoom call or phone call with the teacher to create a plan that works for you.
A) 2nd and 3rd Grades- 3 hours
B) 4th-6th Grades- 3 hours of assignments, 30-45 minutes of zoom instruction
C) 7th-8th Grades- 3 to 3.5 hours of assignments, 1 to 2 hours of zoom instruction
3. Take breaks, our students are used to a morning break, lunch break and many times a afternoon break. These breaks include outside time.
4. Take time to listen to your child read their reading assignments out loud and read to them as well.
5. Set up a place dedicated for "school"
We hope these tips will help each of you as we continue this journey of at home learning. Please remember to keep it simple, keep it delightful, keep it "living" and be unafraid.
Every Blessing,
Mrs. Flora and Mrs. Vosburg
