Inaugural Winter Football Clinics
Optimist football director Brett Hesson says, "The clinics are awesome! In addition to teaching kids, we are utilizing current and prospective Optimist coaches and versing them on how to run a good practice."
Approximately 100 kids participated in the first-ever event - doubling the number of children that coaches were anticipating.

A Visit from the Queen
Madeline Hayden, 2015 Miss Indiana State Fair Queen and past winner of the Plainfield Optimist Oratorical Contest, shared her experiences with members at a recent Club meeting held at Chicago's Pizza in Plainfield.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL® Pitch, Hit & Run™ Competition
Saturday, April 18th, 12am
Al and Jan Barker Sports Complex ----- EVENT TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED
Open to competitors ages 7 – 14
Participation is FREE
Four levels of competition
- PITCH: Throw strikes to designated target
- HIT: Hit from a stationary batting tee for distance and accuracy
- RUN: Sprint from 2nd base to home plate for time
Pitch, Hit & Run™ is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2015 MLB™ All-Star Game®.
The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition.
