Network Upgrade Project
Technology Systems Coordinator
Ethernet Ports:
Our new network came with an all-new range of IP Addresses to accommodate the ever-growing numbers of devices we have connecting to our network; think of these as phone numbers assigned to your devices so they can dial out to the internet i.e. Google, Amazon, or any other website. Some devices had been set to dial out using a specific number every time. This number was based on a 172.0.0.0 range. All of our new numbers are a 10.0.0.0 range. So if you are having trouble "dialing out" please have your Site IT Tech check for Static IP and they can change it to Dynamic IP.
WIFI:
You will notice that we no longer have the SSID of " Devices" or "Devices5ghz".
Now you will see on your wireless device 3 SSIDs at each site.
- DO Staff
- DO Student
- DO Guest
You can substitute DO for your respective site
As staff members, you will choose "Staff" SSID. Then you will be prompted by a splash page to sign in with google. Please do so with your @pgusd.org account. Only these accounts will be allowed on our network.
Please know also that splash page prompts vary from device to device so please keep an eye on your default web browser or any pop up that will take you to a splash page where you will click in the checkbox and click sign in with Google. Remember this is a two-step process
- Pointing your device to the Signal named Staff
- Signing in with you @pgusd.org account
Once your @pgusd.org account is logged in you will now have access to our wireless network.
If you need any help with this please reach out to your respective site IT Tech.
Thank you.
Distance Learning Resource Site for Teachers
Digital Teacher, Tech Systems Support
Teachers, this is your one-stop-shop for all the best "How-to" videos and resources to get started using essential DL tools that the district purchase to support distance learning this year.
Distance Learning Support for Parents
Director of Ed Tech
We've launched the Distance Learning Guide for Parents. The site contains a wide range of helpful advice, tips, and strategies - all centered around distance learning parent support. The site will continue to evolve and expand over time. But it already contains some great resources to assist parents as they help their students navigate distance learning this year.
Chromebook Fleet Replacement Initiative
Technology Systems Coordinator
Great news everyone! We have also upgraded our entire Chromebook fleet at every site. PGUSD has purchased 2000 new Dell Chromebooks. At the time of this newsletter's publishing, these are currently being set up and getting reading to delivery to our sites.
- 400 to Forest Grove
- 400 to Robert Down
- 600 to Middle School
- 600 to High School
As we are a ChromeOS School District we will continue to fill in any gaps we find a long the way.
What will we do the existing fleet?
As we will start the school year off with Distanced Learning, we will be able to supply a HP Chromebook to any student whose parent's has indicated they need a device at home. We will have enough to cover the needs of PGUSD.
Synergy Implementation Project

It is official - we've begun our move to Synergy SIS. Our fearless SIS implementation team is 11 strong:
- Steve Ibrahim, Teacher (RD)
- Nancy Da Silva, Office Clerk (FG)
- Carey Parker, Site Tech (FG)
- Summer Coe, Registrar (HS)
- Brice Gamble, Teacher (MS)
- Jenna Hall, Teacher (HS)
- Andrew Bradley, Digital Teacher (DO)
- Jonathan Mejia, Tech Systems Coordinator (DO)
- Leslie Ternullo, Administrative Specialist (DO)
- Sara Birkett, Administrative Specialist (DO)
- Matthew Binder, Ed-Tech Director (DO)
This team will oversee and complete a variety of tasks vital to the success of this implementation, including student data migration, system set-up, validation, programming, and integration. There's a lot of work ahead but we're are up to the challenge and confident we'll be able to hit the ground running with the new system starting in Fall 2021. For now, sit tight. Nothing changes in the near term - Illuminate remains our student data system of record for this entire school year.
More updates to come. Stay tuned!
