Message from the Principal

This time of year there seems to be holiday music everywhere. I always smile when I hear John Lennon’s “And So This Is Christmas”. It came out my Senior year in high school, not about sleigh bells and mistletoe but, rather, about peace and harmony among nations, groups, and individuals. Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

PBIS at PHHS

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports. This is a framework that will be implemented in our building to teach students what the expected behaviors are in order to be successful at PHHS and beyond. Teachers have been attending training sessions to learn strategies to implement to help them work with students when students display an unexpected behavior as well as praise expected behaviors.

Our first step in this implementation was creating a matrix that has 3 expectations of students that we believe will help them be successful not only in PHHS but in society. Our 3 Expectations are for students to be responsible, respectful and resilient. Next semester, students will be taken through lessons during homeroom to teach each of the expected behaviors listed on the PHHS Matrix (see below). Teachers refer to this in order to reteach the expected behaviors when necessary.
