GT COURSES
1) EDU591 Nature & Needs of GT | September 26-December 4, 2022
2) EDU592 Curriculum & Instruction for GT | January 9-April 9, 2023
SEATS WILL BE AWARDED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING PRIORITIES:
● First priority (highest level)—teachers who have already completed one of the two endorsement classes and are currently teaching GT students, and GT district coordinators who do not have the required credential of GT endorsement.
● Second priority (middle level A)—teachers who are currently teaching GT students and have not taken an endorsement class or those who have completed one class and are assigned to teach GT students for the upcoming year.
● Third priority (middle level B)—teachers who have not completed any courses but are assigned to teach GT students for the upcoming semester or school year.
● Fourth priority (lowest level)—teachers and administrators who have not completed any courses and who are not assigned to teach GT students.
DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete GT Interest Form (CLICK HERE)
- Signed F1S Agreement from educator and administrator. (Obtain from school administration)
- Successful completion of both 591 and 592 GT courses.
- Must commit to teaching in Florence 1 Schools for 2022-2023 school year
NOTE: Completion of this interest form does not guarantee that you will be a part of the cohort.
STEPS TO REGISTER FOR COURSES
STEP 1: Complete the Converse and F1S GT Cohort Google Interest Form. (CLICK HERE)
STEP 2: Submit F1S Agreement with completed signatures from educator and administration. (Obtain from school administration)
STEP 3: If approved complete registration for Converse University using the code from the Office of Professional Development.
NOTE: Dropping the course or failure to complete the program will result in the educator having to pay the district back for the courses ($250 per course).
State Department Professional Learning Library
PLL Educator Training is designed for classroom-based teachers, special areas educators, and administrators, to orient them on the general use of the PLL. Participants will learn how to access the PLL; how to navigate, select and register for courses, mini courses and videos; associated notifications; and how to complete courses and track progress.

Virtual SCPD
VirtualSC PD offers SCDE approved Read to Succeed courses supporting the Read to Succeed Act. All Read to Succeed renewal courses are offered for $85.00 and are worth 60 renewal credits. Cohorts are offered by request for all Read to Succeed courses.

National Board Certification
Tuition Reimbursement 2022-2023 | Get Paid To Go To School
The current incentive for the 2022-2023 school year entitles all full-time employees tuition reimbursement up to $2,000 per year, per employee for courses taken during the period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Employees who have been employed in Florence 1 Schools for at least three (3) years are eligible to receive up to $2,000. Employees who have been employed in Florence 1 Schools less than three (3) years are eligible to receive up to $1,000. To be eligible for tuition reimbursement upon the acquisition of additional academic credits or completion of a degree program, the following steps must be followed.
Prior to Taking the Course:
- Courses must be approved by the Superintendent of Schools PRIOR to enrolling/registering in the course.
- The tuition assistance shall be provided only for a course or degree related to the employee’s current or future job responsibilities.
- The institution shall be a duly authorized institution of higher education.
- Complete a Course Approval Form. One copy is attached for your reference.
- All courses must be graduate level courses for certified personnel.
- If you change courses you MUST reapply. Only courses outlined on your approval form will be honored.
Only send a complete package to Kim Hoffman which includes:
- Approval form clearly outlines the course(s) which you plan to enroll
- The dates of the course(s)
- The cost of the course(s)
- Course descriptions from the College/University website or course catalog for each course listed below.

SCETV offers an array of professional development opportunities for PreK-12 educators. Click on the SCETV icon to search for courses currently open for enrollment.
FREE ETV Technology Training - the staff at ETV trains over 3,000 SC teachers at their locations every school year. They will work with teachers during their planning periods, after school or on in-service days. ETV's trainers specialize in web tools, iPads and Google as well as all of the wonderful ETV resources.
