December Newsletter
December 2, 2022
Good afternoon everyone,
As the weather gets colder, students will need to be prepared. I want to remind everyone that technical areas do work outside, so students need to have proper attire for these conditions.
This month we have several events that are essential for our parents to attend. Please see information below to help you keep informed.
Hybrid In-Person/Virtual Parent-Teacher Night is Thursday, December 15th, 6-8 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for parents/ guardians to speak with their student's teachers. Last year we did this virtually and had more parent participation than ever before. This year we will offer in-person and virtual meetings. Parent Council suggested that we keep this as a virtual event as it is easier for parents to participate, yet many parents want to meet with teachers personally. This is the best of both worlds. However, meetings are still limited in time and availability so sign up early. More information will be sent next week.
If your student made the honor roll, we will be honoring your student after the New Year on (Tentative Date January 10th and 11th) with our Honors Breakfast. Parents/Guardians are invited to join their students at Cape Cod Tech as we honor their achievements on the selected date. In order to provide the most flexibility and accommodate parents with multiple honor roll students at Cape Cod Tech, we will be holding the breakfasts based on the last name. We do not know the split as of yet as we will make that determination based on students making the honor roll and keeping the breakfasts evenly dispersed.
We will cancel our Family Forum for the month but hold a Coffee with Mr. T virtual meeting. This will occur on Friday, December 16th at 8:15. Please join us by RSVPing below.
I also want to mention that on Thursday, Dec. 22nd, students will be dismissed around 12:30. We will be holding our annual Shop Parties beginning at 11 am. After the parties and when clean-up is complete, students will be dismissed. Students who do not want to participate in the parties will be offered lunch and a quiet library to read, play board games, and do other activities.
Parents, we use SchoolBrains for our Student Recordkeeping. This system allows parents to review up-to-date grading, attendance, and other information that will help you support your student. If you do not have access, please contact us at assistance@capetech.us
I have included a calendar for you so that you can prepare for upcoming events and evenings, just click the link below.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at: bterranova@capetech.us or at (508)432-4500 ext 2000.
Thank you,

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The state expects a 95% rate for student attendance. We want to achieve a higher rate for the year. We can do this, but students need to come to school everyday. Over the last two years our attendance policy has been more lenient than in the past. This year we will be re-instituting the policy to the fullest extent. Our expectation is that you will follow future employer's expectations. Remember, your boss will expect you at work everyday, and so will your co-workers. Build healthy habits now. Come to school because we want you here!
Tardy
If a student is not present in the class/ shop at the time attendance is taken in the morning, they will be marked tardy and will have to report to the main office for a tardy pass. Accumulation of excess tardies as defined in the student handbook will result in disciplinary action. Being on time is an employability skill. Cape Cod Tech not only trains students in skills specific to their technical area but CCT also teaches professionalism and employability skills to the standards of the industries in which they represent.
Please see below a quick link to our attendance policy as well as other important information about attendance.
