All About GPS
This video is more of a brief overview style type documentary on how GPS work. Placed in this article to provide you with better diagrams and visuals on the functioning process of the GPS.
What was it like using GPS for the first time when it was first introduced vs now ?
Interview 1
Kai Pierre: I rank it a 2. It isn't that difficulty you just pick up your phone and it's there for you at your fingertips.
Hewane Melkie: The first time someone handing you a GPS were you confused on how to operate it ?
Kai Pierre: Not at all confusing I grew up with it being used, I grew up seeing other people using and operating it. Which I feel is due to the advantage of growing up in a time such as now where everything is exposed and accessible. Growing up with technology can turn advantages such as GPS turn into a necessity or something used on a daily bases.
Hewane Melkie: Since you weren't around to say how you feel GPS has advanced from the beginning when it was announced to now. How do you predict it will further progress in the future what different features will be added?
Kai Pierre: I feel it might just turn into all holograms so you don't even need your phone anymore and the road becomes safer that way all you do would be press a button on the stereo and a hologram would appear with the electronic map and a voice speaking telling you the directions. Another prediction of mine is they may find a way to have GPS accommodate people with disabilities maybe making it possible for the blind to drive. If cars are able yo park themselves already who knows hope close we are to having them drive themselves. The GPS could be programmed to the persons voice as the blind person speaks the GPS transmits the information into the car letting the car drive the disabled person around.
Hewane Melkie: How often to use your GPS when driving places?
never , occasionally , often , always
Kai Pierre: I would say often.
Hewane Melkie: Rank from 1 - 10 , 10 being the highest, how dependent are you and your family on GPS when driving places ?
Kai Pierre: I would rank us an 8 since we do often use it and even though they may know the address of the location and how to get there they like to use it "just in case".
Interview 2
Mrs. Loboda: I would rate it an 8 since the original garmen had to be programmed through PC on your computer making it a lengthy , annoying process that was a pain more annoying than difficult but yes it was difficult to use as far as programming and getting git to work.
Hewane Melkie: When you wee first introduced to the earlier model of the GPS did it confuse you when told to operate?
Mrs. Loboda: Yes, since the earlier models were very inaccurate the inaccuracy would make me very confused. I didn't really use the GPS that much in the first place during this time anyway. but yes it was confusing most times.
Hewane Melkie: Compared to the earlier model that you were introduced to how do you think GPS has progressed over time ?
Mrs. Loboda: It has greatly progressed over time now I use it all the time. I just used the GPS on my phone last Sunday to get to a new restaurant. Its a necessity to my driving.
Hewane Melkie: How often did you use the earlier models when they were first introduced?
Mrs. Loboda: seldom, almost never I mostly depended on the "old fashioned way" of using paper maps to find my way around new places.
Hewane Melkie: Compare ow dependent you once were of GPS compared to how dependent you are of it now?
Mrs. Loboda: Before I rarely used it once again mostly paper maps vs now it is always with me on my phone I use it now more than I ever thought I would.
