Lesson Plan

Monday and Tuesday will serve as asynchronous days for our students. Below are the expectations:


Monday(Periods 1, 3, 5, 7)

  • Brass/Woodwind Players- Complete any late SmartMusic assignments; SmartMusic login information can be found on the homepage of the students Band Canvas page.
  • Percussion-Mr. Jennings has published Drumming Assignments in Canvas as well as sent out a Zoom Link for practice from 12-1 if you are available. The zoom is not required. Please check your Canvas Email for link.


Tuesday(Periods 2, 4, 6, 8)

  • Brass/Woodwind Players- Complete any late SmartMusic assignments
  • Percussion-Submit Practice Log


Attendance

  • To be counted present students MUST submit their practice log prior to midnight on their class day. Students that do not complete the practice log will not be counted present. Click the button below for the correct form.


Wednesday-Friday


  • If we continue asynchronous another email will come out with expectations for the remaining days. If you have internet issues or need assistance please email your child's primary director and we are happy to work with our students during this time. Band should not be a stressor, and as long as we are in communication we can work through any challenge.Thank you for your flexibility.

Practice Expectations

Beginners- 15 minutes a day 5 days a week

Advanced Bands- 20 minutes a day 5 days a week


Beginning this 9 weeks the only time that can be counted towards the practice log is physical time on the instrument. We will no longer accept time for Music Racer, Staff Wars are any other music literacy computer program.

We have currently raised $3,986 towards our goal of $5,000! Thank you so much for your support. Our fundraiser will remain live for 1 more week concluding on 2/28. Prizes will be raffled off the week before Spring Break. Thank you to all those that have participated!

Fundraising PRIZES!!

Our boosters have done a WONDERFUL job of getting prizes for our students. Student will receive 1 raffle ticket for each $25 fundraised. Students will get to choose what prize they want to have the chance of winning!

Pre UIL- March 4 for Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble

During Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble class on March 4th we will be participating in our Pre UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. This will be in preparation for our UIL recording session on March 25. We have Mr. Beavers from Nelson Middle School coming over to evaluate our performances, and to give us feedback in preparation for our final recording session.


Students MUST be in "Informal Uniform" which includes:


  • This year's band T Shirt (Carolina Blue 2020-2021 Band T Shirt) and jeans.


Please take this time to locate the shirt as we must be in uniform for Pre UIL, and UIL performances and submissions. If your child has lost our outgrown their shirt replacements can be purchased for $10.
