FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

Another week filled with many blessings here at Fr. Doyle! Firstly, thank you to everyone who made our 5th Annual Car Show & Vendor Fair a tremendous success! It was wonderful seeing so many families at the event, and I am so grateful for the endless hours our faculty, staff, and volunteers put in to make sure everything ran smoothly. This was our biggest Car Show yet, and I am already looking forward to next year!

Also, you may have noticed Mr. Raymond Santos at drop-off this morning. Mr. Santos is a photographer who was visiting this morning to take a few snapshots of a day in the life of a Fr. Doyle student. Some of Mr. Santos' photographs will be featured in our Yearbook, and others will be utilized for marketing purposes. Please note that we are careful to abide by all family photo permission policies. I look forward to sharing some of these photos with you in the weeks ahead!

As Mr. Santos and I visited classrooms this morning, I was struck by an unmistakable and deep-rooted joy that radiates from our building. Our teachers derive a distinct joy from their work educating young people, and our students reflect this same joy. How blessed we are to have such an incredible staff and school community!

It is incredible to see donations already coming in for our Annual Walk-a-thon & Fun Run on October 17th! If you have not set up your Anython.com account yet, now is the time! You can learn more about Anython and the event from the video here. In addition, more information regarding donations, the flyer for this year's event, as well as the paper-copy for pledges is attached below under Forms and Important Documents. Just a reminder that donations can be collected through Anython.com, in paper/check format like last year, or a combination of both methods - whichever is easiest for you and your family. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Lastly, we wrapped up STAR Reading testing today, and we will begin our STAR Math testing next week. These tests, administered on Chromebooks or tablets, only take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete and provide teachers with immediate, detailed results that help provide a personalized learning experience for all of our students. If you have questions regarding your children's STAR scores, these can be reviewed at Parent-Teacher Conferences in October.

Don't forget that Grandparents' Day is coming soon! We look forward to seeing our grandparents and grandfriends on Monday, October 7th. More information will be coming out next week including a detailed schedule of events!

Wishing you a wonderful and restful weekend!

Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Only have a little time to donate? That’s ok! We have a job for you! Have a lot of time to donate, that is ok, too. We have something for you! Have great handwriting, we have a job for you! Are you a take charge kind of person? We have subcommittees that need chairpersons. We are looking for help with small tasks, as well as, large tasks. Volunteer Opportunities

Yearbook Coordinators Needed

We are currently looking for parent volunteers interested in organizing our Yearbook efforts. This would include taking and collecting photographs, designing pages, and working together with our Lifetouch representatives to construct the yearbook itself. Good news! Lifetouch has moved to a more user-friendly design program. Little to no technical experience is required!

If you or someone you know may be interested in assisting with our Yearbook, please contact the school!

Fundraising & Contest Opportunities

Participate in the FJVD Certificate Program!

This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!

The Process:

  • The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
  • You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
  • The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.

For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 tuition credit!

Cards currently available include:

Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Stop by the school Wednesdays from 10am-12pm or in the vestibule after the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday Masses to purchase your gift cards!

Shop with Amazon Smile!

If you shop on Amazon.com, your purchases could be benefiting Fr. John V. Doyle School! Simply go to smile.amazon.com and utilize your normal Amazon login information, select Fr. John V. Doyle from the list of organizations, and shop away!

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of RI

Purple Bins help our school!

Please donate your clothing into the purple bins on the side of the Church! Father John V. Doyle School will benefit for every donation - even old sports and/or personalized items! Thank you!

Box Tops for Education

Keep Saving Those Box Tops!

Don't forget to save your Box Tops!

See the letter below for information on uploading Box Tops to the new Box Top App!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up

Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
