Book Fair Coming Soon!
Hooray! Our Spring BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) Book Fair will be April 18-22, 2022 in the Media Center. We significantly exceeded our Fall sales goals, making it possible to buy some classroom sets, so we’re excited about this one! All purchases benefit our school and library. Families can also shop online April 18-May 1, 2022.
Remember to use the cash-free payment option called eWallet, and any eWallet leftovers will convert to a Scholastic gift card that can be used at a future fair. There are a few students who still have a balance they can spend! Please remember it may take 24-48 hours for eWallets to be active online. Contact Ms. Jennifer Burke, Media Specialist, for more information.

April is National Poetry Month
There are lots of ways to incorporate poetry into ELA activities this month and every day. Many children’s picture books - not just Dr. Seuss - include rhythm and rhymes. A number of chapter books for 4th-8th grade are written in poetry format. Not only do the authors use figurative language and rich vocabulary to craft the story, but the way the text is presented makes them more accessible for striving readers. Nearly 50 are available in our school library, in print and digital format. Many are displayed on the shelves in the back atrium for your enjoyment.
Try some activities from the Academy of American Poets to celebrates National Poetry Month:
The Dear Poet project helps teachers and students engage with the art of poetry in a meaningful way.
Resources, including downloadable poems, are available for National Poem in Your Pocket Day.
Get a new poem every day in your email by subscribing to Poem-a-Day.
host a range of special events and readings in April, including our star-studded annual Poetry & the Creative Mind event, April 28, 7pm, online.
We offer inspiration and resources for celebrating National Poetry Month on the local level, including tips for teachers and tips for librarians.
Share poems with your scholars for CREW writing prompts.
April Religious Holidays
This year, holidays for the three largest religions coincide in April. The dates for all three vary from year to year based on lunar phases and religious history.

Passover, celebrated by Jews worldwide, begins in the U.S. at sundown on April 15 and ends at sundown on April 23, 2022.
