Main Office Announcements...
HALLOWEEN LUNCH AND PARADE
- Reminder: If your child will be eating lunch at home you are REQUIRED to complete THIS form by Monday, October 30, 2017.
- WE WILL NOT DISMISS STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT ON THE LIST.
Before/after school parent reminder about supervision:
- Please be reminded that there is no teacher supervision in the morning until 8:30 a.m. This is important to note as if you are not attending the morning care program, students will be unsupervised until a teaching staff member arrives.
- At dismissal, once teachers leave the class at aftercare, or dismiss to parents/guardians, there is no school supervision for students on the blacktop or playground.
Late arrival:
- Our School day begins at 8:45 a.m. If your child is not in their homeroom at 8:45 p.m. they will be marked late. Please assist us in keeping the Brookside children safe by maintaining a close watch on your children during after school hours.
Morning Drop Off...
PLEASE NOTE:
- If you pull up on the Stop, Drop, and Go line, DO NOT get out of your car to assist your child. This results in traffic backing up, and disrupts the flow of our morning routine.
- PLEASE tell any friends, or relatives who may be dropping off, of our procedures as well so they do not disrupt the flow of traffic.
If you feel as though your child needs additional assistance please do one of the following:
- Park in a legal spot and escort your child to their destination... or
- Drive up to Mr. Conroy, or Mrs. Scaduto, and allow them to assist your child out of your vehicle.
If you have any questions please contact the main office for assistance.

Dear Brookside Families,
Fall celebrations like Halloween are fun for families, especially children, who can dress up in costumes, enjoy parties, and eat yummy treats. These celebrations also provide a chance to focus on safety, give out healthy snacks and get some physical activity.
Here are some tips from the Center for Disease Control to keep in mind for safe and fun SAFE HALLOWEEN trick or treating:
S Swords, knives, and other accessories should be short, soft, and flexible.
A Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
F Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
E Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them.
- Limit the amount of treats you eat.
H Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you.
- WALK and don’t run from house to house.
A Always test make-up in a small area first.
- Remove it before bedtime to prevent possible skin and eye irritation.
L Look both ways before crossing the street. Use crosswalks wherever possible.
L Lower your risk for serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact lenses.
O Only walk on sidewalks whenever possible
W Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips/falls.
E Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats made by strangers.
E Enter homes only if you’re with a trusted adult. Only visit well-lit houses.
- Never accept rides from strangers.
N Never walk near lit candles or luminaries. Be sure to wear flame-resistant costumes.
