Holy Yoga & Trauma Sensitive Practice
New Name and Practices in 2019
Happy new year! With new practices in 2019 you’ll find us meditating, moving and praying in Green Hills, East Nashville and Brentwood all month long! February and March schedules also available by request. As always, message me for address/details or a mat res (except at City Church & Woodmont Christian where drop ins are ALWAYS welcome.)
Hey
This fall I decided on a name change and an expansion of Gospel and Yoga. After discussions and meetings with wise counsel Shalem Yoga was born. Shalem is a Hebrew proper noun meaning Peace City and the prior name of Jerusalem. As an adjective, shalem means, whole, complete, full and peacefulness. Shalem Yoga’s mission is to bring Peace, the Prince of Peace, to our city through yoga. New with Shalem Yoga (besides the new name!) is adding Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. This fall I completed a TSY certification/training process (at Abundant Yoga - a fantastic Jesus-following yoga studio for your practice if you’re near Franklin!). Shalem’s TSY hope is to empower yogis notice their bodies and fully integrate mind, heart, soul and strength through worshipping God through yoga. Participants choose whether their practice is spiritually based in Jesus or not (helping people regardless of their current belief.) If participants choose we can weave the Word, the Truth, into their discovery and integration process to reconnect self and Creator.
Another change instituted this fall for Holy Yoga in-community is amended pricing. I started asking participants to pay what the practice afforded them and if in financial insecurity to pay another time. We want everyone to participate regardless of economic status. The hope is this will expand who can experience this practice. Trauma-Sensitive and private yoga pricing is different so please, inquire for that information.
Below is our January Holy Yoga in-community schedule. We will focus on our present liturgical season, Epiphany, and the Joy of the season. As far as Trauma-Sensitive we do not have a open practice scheduled at this time but would love the opportunity to work with you or a referral from your organization. In our volunteer expansion of Shalem, we ask for your prayer. We hope to , take Shalem Yoga into the city, expanding reach. Pray and prayerfully suggest organizations or groups that you would like us to consider partnering with in 2019 - especially places where yoga with Jesus at the core would not otherwise be available.
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
