Dear SHS Community,

It is hard to believe that September is behind us and that we are already approaching the midpoint of the first marking period. We encourage all parents/guardians to stay informed with regard to their child's academic progress by logging into the Realtime Parent Portal. First marking period Progress Reports that will be available on October 10th. It is most beneficial to review progress with your child as we encourage our students to self advocate and please reach out to our guidance department with any questions or concerns.

We will once again be offering the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT school day on October 11, 2023. All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be participating in the PSAT/NMSQT and pre-registered seniors will be taking the SAT. Wednesday, October 11th will be a one-session day for all high school students. Please contact Mrs. Wiswesser cwiswesser@sboe.org with any questions.

Senior Success Week began on Thursday with a school day Mini College Fair where we welcomed admissions representatives from colleges and universities. Today, students had an opportunity to receive assistance on the college essay process from English teachers and school counselors. Please see the below flyer for additional activities next week.

Ticket sales are underway for this year's Homecoming Dance and can be purchased during student lunch periods. Thank you to our PTSA for once again sponsoring this memorable event.

Thank you our SGO members and their advisor, Ms. Kim, for organizing a fun and exciting pep rally to cheer on our fall athletes!

The Secaucus High School S.A.I.L. program and the Secaucus Middle School S.G.O. held their annual Walk-A-Thon for Mental Health Awareness on Tuesday, October 3rd. This year's event brought in 100 students, faculty, and staff to support a wonderful cause. After the walk, students celebrated with pizza, snacks, and desserts!

The students and the Secaucus community raised $1290 for the J-Shine Fund, a local organization that supports mental health awareness initiatives.

The Class of 2025 will be hosting the annual Haunted High School from 4:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Please see the attached flyer for details and email Ms. Lindner at klindner@sboe.org or Mrs. Duca at sduca@sboe.org to reserve pre-sale tickets or purchase 50/50 tickets. Thank you for your support!

For the month of October, S.A.I.L. students have teamed up with the Carnegie Diner right here in Secaucus to carry out a Fall Pumpkin Sale! If you plan on buying pumpkins this fall either to carve with your families or decorate your home with, please consider stopping by Carnegie Diner located on Plaza Drive at any time the restaurant is open. A variety of sizes are available at different prices. All proceeds will go to the S.A.I.L. program.

We strongly encourage our entire school community to become members of both the Parent Teacher Student Association and the Patriot Athletic Club by clinking on the active links and completing the membership forms. Please join both organizations so they can continue to support our students.

We are excited for the start of the 2023-24 sports season and wish all our student athletes a safe and enjoyable season. We appreciate the support from our school community, please see the NJIC Athletic Calendar for all sporting events.
