Fire Safety
By: Jarrett Johnson + Jacob LeMere
Fire can be very dangerous, but there are ways to prevent it. Fire comes in many sizes and forms, and runs on different types of fuel. Learning how to stay safe with it can make it fun and very helpful.
Stats and/or Facts
- Smoke and toxic gases kill more people than flames do.
- About 5,000 people die every year in this country as the result of fire, and another 25,500 are injured.
- More than 2 million fires are reported each year. Many others go unreported, causing additional injuries and property loss.
- About 100 firefighters are killed annually in duty-related incidents.
- Careless smoking is the leading cause of fire deaths. Smoke detectors and smolder-resistant bedding and upholstered furniture are significant fire deterrents.
Prevention suggestions
- Smoke detectors (check every 1 month)
- Have a bucket of water by your campfire
- Never leave a fire unattended
- Only smoke outside if you do smoke (which you should not (the effects are worse than what you gain))\
- Put grease fires out with the lid to the container/pot, not water
- Only you can prevent fires
And Remember!!!!
Only you can prevent fires.
