LEES Families,

We had such a fun day today with students dressing up as their favorite book characters! Just a reminder that there is No School for students on October 29, November 1, and November 2. I hope families enjoy the long weekend!

School picture retakes will be on Thursday, November 4, for any students who missed the original picture day or want their pictures taken again.

Remember to complete the Literacy Event activities and send pictures of your family participating to ksee@rockingham.k12.va.us, in order to be entered in a drawing to win a Walmart gift certificate!

I will see everyone back at LEES on Wednesday, November 3! Have a safe weekend!

Book Character Day

Paint your own ornaments right here at LEES! Give them as gifts or use them to decorate your home. PTO and You Made It! are teaming up once again to bring our students an hour of fun. You Made It! will be at LEES afterschool on Tuesday, Nov 30, and Thursday, Dec 2. Choose to attend one day or both. A form was sent home with your child earlier this week.

We expect a high turnout for both dates and there are a limited number of spaces available. Please return your form as soon as possible to secure a spot for your child.

We are still not allowed to have visitors in school, but the PTO would love to have a few parent volunteers to assist students with their painting, etc. Please also complete the 'volunteer' portion of the form that was sent home and return it to school.

In third grade, we are learning about multiplication. We are doing fives! We are learning subtraction in math. In reading we are using the tap it, map it, graph it, strategy to learn ending blends. We learned a cool song to divide syllables. We did a Harry Potter escape room for looking for the main idea. In writing, we wrote how to carve a pumpkin. Then we carved one.

Students in 2nd grade have been learning about the water cycle, seasons, four types of major storms, and weather instruments. This week they are writing and creating their own weather forecasts using green screens!

Use your cell phone's camera and hover over this QR code. You will see a 2nd Grade weather report.

On Tuesday, Mike Coyle from the Jamestown Outreach program came to LEES to teach 4th Grade students about Jamestown. He brought all kinds of artifacts and materials to show the students, such as bows and arrows, armor, fabric, and various tools. The students learned a lot and are excited to get into our unit about Jamestown!
