Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Nicole Riess

Big picture
Mrs. Nicole Riess is a first grade teacher here at ESA! Mrs. Riess is a member of the PBIS Committee and a mentor teacher to other staff members.

Here is how students and staff describe Mrs. Riess:

-she is approachable and easy to talk to. She holds her students to high standards, but she is highly supportive of them. She literally exudes sunshine, even when things are hard. She's devoted to the kids and her work.

-Her classroom management is amazing!

-She takes the time to build relationships with all of her kids and supports them no matter what they need.

-Her positivity and willingness to help.

-Mrs. Riess is a kind, caring, and dedicated teacher. She goes above and beyond as an educator and coworker. Even injured, she navigates the hallways with a walker, takes on more students as needed, and helps lead the PBIS committee, always keeping a positive attitude. Mrs. Riess goes above and beyond for the betterment of her students and the ESA school.

-Dedicated to her kids, always interacting with her kids, her classroom is always engaging.

-Takes the time to build relationships with all of her kids and supports them no matter what they need.

-Always shows up, even when she's crumbling.

-Nicky is one of the most engaging and enthusiastic teachers I have ever met! No matter the day, the lesson, or the subject, Mrs. Riess gives her all, and makes her classroom a fun place for every student in her classroom. She works so hard to give her students what they need to be successful. She's a team player and is willing to jump in and help with whatever needs to be done! She works hard to make ESA a better school for every student and staff member we have!

-She handles tricky situations like a pro! She always has her kids' best interests in mind. She is energetic, engaging, and gets kids engaged and invested in their own learning.

-She is the PBIS Queen

-Nicky is reliable and always willing to lend a hand or an ear!

Arrival and Dismissal

As the weather becomes colder, I want to reiterate to parents/guardians that school does not open until 8:40 am. There is no supervision of students prior to 8:40 am. Breakfast will be served from 8:40 am - 9:00 am only.

Also, we will not let students be dismissed between 2:30pm and 3:30pm unless you have an emergency that is documented (e.g., a letter or text regarding a doctor's appointment at 3:30). No early dismissal past 2:30pm without documentation. In addition, please be sure to communicate any dismissal changes (e.g., from bus rider to pick up student) prior to 2:30 pm directly to the homeroom teacher through Class Dojo. Please ensure that you have received a response from the teacher and don't assume that they saw the message. We want to make sure that all students are safe!

In addition, students are considered late to school after 9:00 am. Parents MUST walk late students into the building to sign them in and get a late pass. Frequent latenesses result in the loss of instructional time as well as interrupt the instructional time of other students.
