How to help your child to become as independent as possible
Facilitating Independence in the home setting
This training will help assist parents with creating a home environment that will facilitate independence and give parents strategies and tips on how you CAN do this at home. It will guide you through prompting procedures (a way of assisting and facilitating skills) that are effective and at your child's level. The importance of having your child as independent as possible is a critical life skill that needs fostered and developed in all settings. This training will demonstrate the prompting hierarchy along with other environmental cues that will help your child to be successful.

Adell M. Valasek, M.Ed., M.S., BCBA
Ms. Valasek has been working in the field of Special Education for almost 20 years now. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the Supervisor of Education in Mount Holly, New Jersey at the Burlington County Special Services School District, BCSSSD. She oversees curriculum, programming, behavior intervention plans and supervises Special Education Teachers at BCSSSD. She has worked directly with students ages 3-21 with autism and other developmental disabilities.
