From the Principal
Hello, Midland Mustang Families!
As we bring one year to a close and start planning for the coming school year, our staff will soon begin the important task of placing students with new teachers for next year. If you wish to request special placement of your child please submit your rationale in writing to Mrs. Dawson by Friday, May 29th. Requests will be considered on the basis of what is best for each child and the learning environment of the group. All requests will be given thoughtful consideration, but due to keeping classes balanced, it may not be possible for all requests to be granted.
Currently we are not sure what the beginning of the school year will look like, but we anticipate it may be different than we are used to. As we are planning for the coming year, we will do our best to communicate any anticipated changes with you.
Stay safe and keep learning!
~Mrs. Dawson
NEW Midland Vision Statement
I am excited to announce that our Building Leadership Team has landed on an addition - Celebrating Community- to our familiar motto to become our new vision statement. The team's overall goal was to have something that captured the many conversations we have had about what we want our school to be known for and what we want to accomplish, but in terms that are easily repeatable by students and staff.
Achieving Success- Includes all students and staff, behavior and academics, each person's best, requires perseverance, hard work, and a growth mindset. We want to maintain the idea of high expectations for each student, staying focused on the importance of their academic work, and broadening that to success in social relationships and behavior.
Inspiring Hope-Includes the ideals of empowerment, engagement, excitement about learning and understanding that what we are all doing impacts dreams for our students' futures. This includes staff inspiring students, but also students inspiring each other, our staff, and their families, too. We can also inspire hope in each other! This speaks to potential, interests, and differentiating our teaching to encourage everyone to do their best.
Celebrating Community- This new addition captures our awareness of diversity, honoring differences, acceptance, collaboration, contributions to our school, families, and the broader community. This is reflected in classroom circles and an intentional focus on equitable outcomes and inclusion of all in every part of our work together. Kindness, caring, and respect for others will demonstrate our celebration of others, along with a renewed emphasis on restorative practices.
I am grateful for the work our Building Leadership Team has done! We have a bright future together at Midland, where all students are capable of success, no exceptions.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend
