From Mr. Bachmeier's Desk
Season’s Greetings from the desk of Mr. Bachmeier. Here we are half way through the school year and I think to myself, wow is this year is going fast! With that said, I am excited for what we have left to accomplish.
It is a busy time of year here at school, as this month marks the beginning of both boys’ and girls’ basketball and wrestling season. Along with the winter Elementary and High School band and choir concerts. It is exciting to see our students taking part in our extracurricular activities and I am proud of how they represent our school with their hard work and positive attitudes outside of our classrooms.
December is a shorter month; however, it is a month that is critical in our students’ education. School is in full swing and semester tests are upon us. Homework, tests and class projects are very important, and I ask that you please remind your child to stay on task and not get distracted by the upcoming winter break.
With the end of the semester coming to a close, I would like to please remind you as parents that you have the ability to check your child’s grades, fees owed, and lunch balances at https://des-lacs-burlington.ps.state.nd.us/public/. If you need help in this process, please do not hesitate to call the office at 725-4334. Also, if there has been a change in your finances and you would like to apply for free and reduced lunch, this option is available throughout the year. Please contact the office if you need an application.
Finally, our winter break will begin on Friday, December 21 and our second semester classes will begin on Thursday, January 3 2019. This month’s quote comes from Martin Luther King Jr. “Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education.” When I read this quote, I believe that this is a goal at our school, to not only educate our students to be smart citizens, but also to be responsible, upstanding, and productive citizens for our society.
From everyone here at DL-B, we hope your 2019 is even better than your 2018!
Have a safe and happy holiday season!

On 12-11, DLBHS hosted a Military Showcase Day. The Air Force, Air National Guard, Army, and the ND National Guard took over the gym with some hands-on learning, such as, night vision tactics, rocket launcher, driving and manipulating a rover, and taste-testing some bugs. Juniors and seniors also learned about different jobs available in the military, how the military can help with paying for college, and how to find out more information on the branches that joined us.
