SLE WEEKLY UPDATE
SEPTEMBER 29, 2023
Dear East Families,
It has been a busy week here at East! On Wednesday evening we celebrated our 2022-23 honor students at our 15th Academic Awards ceremony. Students were recognized for earning the distinction of Honor Roll, Principal's List, and the South Lyon East High School Academic Letter. Many of these students will also be inducted into the National Honor Society next week as well. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success!
Homecoming is next week! Please check out the information shared in the link below to get all the details regarding the activities for the week. As a reminder, the Student Code of Conduct applies at all times at the events associated with Homecoming Week. We certainly want our students to have a fun and enjoyable experience and we are asking parents and guardians to support us in reminding their students to make responsible choices during Homecoming week, and every week!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Be EAST!

Before the day of the College Fair, we are asking that seniors scan the barcode below to register (using their personal email, not school email) through StriveScan. Students will use this app to connect with colleges that they are interested in on the day of the College Fair.
Seniors will return to East at approximately 10:30am and will be asked to resume their regularly scheduled fourth, fifth, and sixth hour classes. Attendance is required for the full day on October 11th. We look forward to experiencing this wonderful opportunity with the Class of 2024!
Student Support Plans- Information from the district newsletter.
If your student is in grades 6-12 and is identified for a Student Support Plan, you will receive a letter in the mail in the upcoming weeks about that plan. Here is some background information on Student Support Plans in South Lyon Community Schools:
In South Lyon Community Schools, we are committed to helping each student acquire the skills and knowledge to be successful in school. In order to help our students acquire the skills and knowledge to be successful, SLCS has developed a Student Support Plan (SSP) process. This process includes a review of student data. Examples include class work, observational data within the classroom, classroom, district, and State assessments, attendance, course grades, and report card comments. Through this process, students are identified who could benefit from additional support from their classroom teachers in specific areas within their classroom(s).
Student Support Plans include the strategy or strategies being utilized by the classroom teacher who created the plan to help an identified student progress in their class(es). Please note, that these plans do not affect promotion from one grade to the next or a student’s class schedule. They are designed to outline instructional strategies that are being utilized with individual students to help facilitate learning.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up Information
Thank you in advance for your attention and support of this request and great job thus far helping us in not only keeping this process orderly, but getting your student to school early enough to make it to their 1st hour classes relaxed and on-time!
