Extended Break Shut Down

For the next two weeks, we have extended weekends! Presidents Day and an unused Snow Make Up day are little gifts from Mother Nature. Please remember the simple shut down procedures for extended weekends:

  • shut everything down - computers (teacher station and student stations), speakers, projectors, Smart Boards. In other words, make sure your room is ‘black’,

  • unplug as much as you can WITHOUT standing on chair - do not unplug stuff in the ceiling,

  • I ask that someone from your team ensure that the grade level lab is shut down completely (towers and monitors completely off). Previous efforts with ‘automatic’ shut down are not working as designed.

Athletic eligibility is coming up again soon. Eligibility will be established after grades are complete on Feb 23 and will be presented to student athletes on Feb 25.

Students are fully eligible for athletics as long as they have no F's on their report card or progress alert. If a student has two (2) F's on a report card or progress alert, they are ineligible to participate until the next grade reporting term (next progress alert or end of trimester). If a student has one (1) F on a report card, they are able to participate in practice, at coach's discretion, and are unable to compete for two (2) weeks in games/matches/meets.

School Safety Response #9

Last week’s School Safety scenario was about a fire alarm during passing period. The most appropriate response would be to immediately start getting students out of the building. Directing students to the exits is priority #1. The difficulty would be getting students, who may not be yours out of the building. After exiting the building, teachers should monitor the groups they are with and those teachers who exited, and the teachers who are in ‘teacher heavy’ areas, should move to other areas that are ‘student heavy’ to assist in supervision.

Have a great weekend,

Shawn J
