The Oasis Elementary South Boosterthon Fun Run on September 15
Oasis Elementary South Fun Run fundraiser starts soon. Pledging opened on August 20.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 for Technology, School enhancements/Playground Equipment, Teacher/Staff/Student Appreciation and to strengthen our school community.
All students will participate in daily activities where they learn to be active while learning about Curiosity, Practice, Confidence, Humility and Endurance. We will also be following our school safety guidelines to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone.
This year more than ever, we need additional funds to provide an excellent educational experience for all of our students. Sharing IS supporting! You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at funrun.com.
Our students are excited to have some fun and watch some great character lesson videos about kids who play sports with character.
Donating is open, so if you’d like to support our school you can
• Register your student on mybooster.com
• Share with extended family and friends
• Give if you are able to

Kindergarten – Check Out
I know Kindergarteners are anxious to check out books from the school library. By November students will check out one book at a time. During their ongoing library visits, we will continue to discuss book care and the responsibility involved with taking of their library book.
SORA – Oasis eBook Collection
Oasis Elementary South has their own eBook collection – SORA, containing this year’s SSYRA Jr. and SSYRA books, last year’s state nominated books and other titles. All children will have access to this collection by using their school Gmail address and password (your child’s teacher will provide). You can download this app on a device, or go to http://soraapp.com/library/oesfl
SSYRA – Sunshine State Nominated Books
The Oasis Elementary South library encourages students in grades 3-5 to read these state nominated books. When students read, take an AR test making 70% or higher, they will earn a brag tag for each book. Please remind your child of this opportunity and their responsibility to advise their teacher of each reading accomplishment. Students who read all 15 books earning 70% or higher will be invited to take an accumulative test regarding all the books. The test will be administered in March 2022.
The 6 highest scoring students will form our Battle team and compete in the Lee County Book Battle.

Temporary Mask Mandate
Our students and staff have done a great job implementing our temporary mask mandate. Students are being provided multiple opportunities throughout the day to remove their masks (i.e. lunch, recess, P.E., anytime outdoors, and in any classroom when they can maintain 6 feet apart).
We will revisit the mandate at the next Governing Board meeting on September 14 to determine whether conditions favor the mandate being discontinued.
Students in Quarantine
Thank you for your understanding while we all navigate Covid-19. To keep students learning while in quarantine, we are currently providing two options for families.
OPTION 1:
Pick up packets and have students complete work at home while out.
Student will receive a Q code for attendance if they turn in all completed work upon returning to school.
If work is not completed, the attendance code will be changed to AE- absent excused.
Packets can be picked up between 10:00 am – 2:00 pm daily.
OPTION 2:
Student will use Google Classroom (and packet work if necessary) to complete work at home while out.
Student will receive a Q code for attendance if they complete all necessary work in Google Classroom.
If work is not completed, the attendance code will be changed to AE- absent excused.
Use this form to request a Chromebook if needed while your student is in quarantine. Chromebooks and packets can be picked up from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm daily.
Please allow 24 hours for teachers to prepare packets and Google Classroom assignments.
Illness Symptoms
Please review the City of Cape Coral Charter Schools Authority COVID Guidelines as well as the most current Illness Policy. Please refer to this policy if your child is experiencing symptoms. If your child is absent please email OES.Attendance@oasishs.org and your child's teacher.
If your child is experiencing symptoms associated with COVID, please keep them home. For more information, please refer to the Oasis Guidelines, which includes the latest illness policy.
If a student is in need of a mask, he or she may reach out to a staff member in the car line or on bus duty to acquire one.
Transportation
AM Car Line
While you are waiting, please make sure your car is in PARK, until the line proceeds.
Car Line Procedures
Students will NOT be released to cars without a current, school issued car tag. Parents without a car tag will be directed to park and report to the office and present a driver's license to have their child released to them.
AM DROP OFF: All car drop off is in the back. No cars may drop off in the front, near the office, as that is where our buses unload.
AM DROP OFF PROCEDURE: Vehicles should not line up until 7:50 am. Vehicles will enter at the OHS entrance. There are two lanes of traffic. (The third lane on the right is for staff, who need to drive to their parking lot). Also, as vehicles approach the drop off location, please have your child be ready to depart, (shoes on , bookbag packed up, ready to unbuckle and depart). Parents should stay in their vehicle. For safety reasons, it is essential that students wait in their vehicles for staff to open their car door. All vehicles will remain stopped until all students have exited to the sidewalk. A staff member will signal when it is time for the lines of traffic to proceed.
PM PICK UP: K-1 and their siblings will be picked up in the front. Students in grades 2-5 will be dismissed in the back, (same as the AM Drop Off location).
PM PICK UP PROCEDURE: Cars should not line up for dismissal until after 3:00 pm. Vehicles will be directed in by our Security person at the OHS entrance to the campus and wait in line until dismissal starts at 3:30. A staff member will read the car tags as cars approach and have the cars move forward toward the pick up location. Parents should wait in their vehicle. Staff will be directing children.
