The Rammie
October 2022 Edition
A MESSAGE FROM US
Dear Rams,
Welcome to the month of October! Your counselors at HHS are so proud of all you have accomplished in the first 5 weeks of school. We have loved watching you play your hearts out on the football field, tennis court, volleyball court, track field, golf field, soccer field, and in all things Band! Not only does HHS have incredible athletes and musicians, but we also have kind, compassionate human beings. There is so much to celebrate!
Hopefully, you are settling into your classes and really diving into the coursework. We apologize for the additional schedule corrections that took place this year. The counselors genuinely appreciate your kindness and patience. Please note that fall semester schedules are now final.
Next, we would like you to pay special attention to the events that will be coming up in October. This month is our "NC Countdown to College" with many exciting events at HHS, including our first College Fair in several years. Please make sure to save important dates to your device.
If you need us for anything please put in a counselor referral form and we will meet with you as soon as possible! You can scan the Counselor Referral QR code found throughout the school, or use this link: https://forms.gle/Tfyo71zyZsFUoTX17
Thank you!
MENTAL HEALTH CHECK-IN
- to be kind to your mind and give yourself some grace
- SLOW growth is STILL growth
- you CAN do hard things
- you WILL get through this
- your feelings ARE valid
- you ARE loved (especially by the counseling team!)
Write these affirmations down and look at them daily to increase your resilience!
Practicing self-care activities is another way to benefit your mental health. Here are a few ideas the counselors like! Remember, self-care does not look the same for every student. You have to find what activities specifically help you to feel rejuvenated and focused. Enjoy these fun ideas!
YOUR HHS COUNSELORS
As a reminder, students are assigned to their school counselor based on last names. The counselors are:
Ms. Mendes- Serves students with last names A-Gn
Ms. Johns- Serves students with last names Go- N
Ms. Slocum- Serves students with last names O-Z
Ms. Hoff- Serves all students as our Career Development Coordinator
Be sure to select the appropriate counselor when filling out a Referral Form. We are all happy to help and get to know you- this just helps us serve all students.
