Lola Cruz, PI, is back!

It's been a long time, Lola...

When I first started writing, I wanted to create a character who balanced life between her family's Mexican heritage and the American life she grew up in. I wanted to represent my husband's Mexican-American culture in a way that felt authentic and relatable. Really, I wanted Lola to be someone my daughter could relate to--someone who was both Mexican and American, and someone who loved everything about her family and their culture, as well as the country she grew up in. And I wanted her to be a young woman who was strong and kick-ass.

That's Lola.

When Living the Vida Lola first came out, multi-cultural books and characters hadn't found their place in bookstores. Hybrid stories that mixed mystery with women's fiction (or chic lit) hadn't found a readership. Fast-forward nearly 10 years. As readers, we now celebrate diversity and multi-cultural book characters, and books don't have to fit neatly into one defined box.

Maybe, at last, Lola will have her day in the sun.

I am so thankful to Henery Press, especially Kendel Lynn, who loved Lola from the beginning and couldn't wait to breathe life into the series again. The first three are ready to be (re)read now.

What Lola Wants will be released this summer, with books 5 and 6 in the series to follow.

So, whether you're getting to know Lola again, after a little hiatus, or meeting her for the first time, happy reading!

Meet Lola

After paying her dues as an intern, Lola is now a full-fledged detective at Camacho and Associates. Her boss is Manny Camacho, a muy caliente former cop with a mysterious ex-wife, a Lara Croft look-alike girlfriend, and a personal interest in Lola.

But when Lola is reunited with the gorgeous Jack Callaghan, her high school crush whom she shamelessly tailed years ago (and photographed doing the horizontal salsa with some other lucky girl), her life will never be the same.

Oh yeah, and there are always bad guys to catch and murders to solve. Just how far is Lola willing to go to get the job done?
