As always, staff will be on duty in the hallways and on school grounds to help any students in finding their way.
Parent Drive Arrival and Dismissal Procedures and Restrictions
- Please have signage with your child’s/children’s name(s) and grades visible in your windshield at pickup. This will greatly assist the staff working outside to identify your child in the crowd and help move the line along at a faster pace.
- Please do not use cell phones while in the carpool line. Cell phone use in the carpool line is prohibited per Illinois State Law and can result in ticketing.
- Please do not turn left onto Mill Street. Left turns are prohibited during peak traffic times and will result in ticketing.
- At no time may students be dropped off on Mill Street.
A.M. Procedures
- Parents may enter the parent drop off lane no earlier than 7:50 and must pull forward to door 6.
- Students may not exit their vehicles until 8:00 a.m. when staff are present and begin their active supervision.
- Parents may not exit their vehicles while in the carpool lane. Children must be independent in managing carseat/seatbelts and materials. Staff will be available to help students as needed.
- Families who arrive after 8:15 must park and escort their children into the office and must sign them in.
P.M. Proccedures
- Parents may not enter the pick up lane prior to 2:15 and at that time must pull forward to door 6.
- Parents must post a sign in their windshield listing students names and grades.
- Vehicles must continually pull forward and students will come to the vehicle from their position on the sidewalk.
- Parents may not exit their vehicle while in the carpool lane. Staff will assist students in finding and entering their vehicles.
- Parents who arrive past 2:45 must park and retrieve their students from the main office. Parents who are habitually late will be required to meet with building administrators to address the issue.
Walker Proccedures
- Please reference the Mill Street Safe Walking Route
- Students who walk home will exit from door 5. It is recommended that parents or guardians meet students and escort them home safely.
- Students may not remain on school grounds or the playground immediately after school, but must first go home and then may return after school hours.

Directions on using Infinite Campus's Online Absence Request tool to submit an absence, late arrive or early departure request for their student(s):
- Open the Infinite Campus Parent Portal app or use this link to log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- Select "More" from the left-hand navigation menu, and then choose "Absence Request."
- Choose the appropriate student(s), the reason for their absence, their absence type, the date(s) of their absence and any additional comments you would like to share.
- Your submitted absence request(s) will appear on the next screen as "Pending." When the request has been approved, the status will change to "Processed."
- You can change/delete requests while they are "Pending," but once they are "Processed" a parent/guardian must contact their child's school to make a change.
You can also visit the Mill Street website, hover your mouse over "Our School' in the top navigation menu and select "Contact Us." Then, on the left-side navigation menu, select "Reporting an Absence."
If your student is being picked up for an appointment or your student is leaving school early for the day...please email their teacher and notify them of the pick-up time and if your student will or will not be returning to school that day. It is important the teacher knows the students schedule so they can plan accordingly. Please bring an ID with you if you're signing a student out early or leaving for an appointment. Thank you.

Scout Pack 562
Mill Street Families, we are restarting Scout Pack 562 for '22/'23 school year. We want to presenting to the Kids (future Scouts) and the future Parent/Leaders information and questions. Please complete this form so we can directly connect with interested families.
Many may be new to Scouting due to the COVID shut downs. Both Boys & Girls are able to join for all Mill Street grades. Pack meetings are for all grades and Den meetings are grade specific.
Feel free to share/reach out to other friends as emails are easily overlooked. The more the merrier and the stronger the future of the Pack!
We will set a meeting up in Aug. (TBD) to discuss and answer any questions including, but not limit to:
- Calendar of Events - a tentative list of activities and dates by month for the Pack. Den meeting (grade specific) planning will come closer to the start of the school year.
- Time Commitments - what a Scout, Den Leader, and Committee member may expect when participating
- Parent Engagement - what is needed to deliver a quality program and meet Youth Protection guidelines.
- Budget Planning - what is the likely cost outlay for a year of Scouting for both Scouts and Leaders
- Website / Communication - we will work to update various Sites (work in progress)
Please don't hesitate to contact me in advance of the meeting with questions.
Yours in Scouting.
Mark Coyle
