Violence & Terrorism

Summer 2016 Online

My name is LD Maples (just LD) and welcome to PPOL469 – Violence and Terrorism. If you pay attention to the media, a day does not go by without some story related to terrorism somewhere in the world. Unfortunately, as we’ve seen, the United States is not immune to terrorism. But, what is terrorism? That seemingly simple question is something we’ll tackle in this class. It’s my hope that the class will be interesting to you and, perhaps, that it will challenge your thoughts and broaden your understanding about politically and religiously motivated violence and terrorism.

To get started, please begin by completing the Jessup Online Student Orientation (if you haven't already done so). Next, be sure to download the course syllabus and read it carefully. Then tell the class something about yourself in the Introductions Forum and what your expectations are for the course. After you've completed these tasks, you're ready for Week 1.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to the next seven weeks together.
