Bestselling Children’s Author Trudy Ludwig Presenting to Oak Grove & North Albany School Communities!

This October 2, students and staff at Oak Grove and North Albany Elementary

Schools will have the opportunity to spend time with children’s advocate and award-

winning author Trudy Ludwig.

Trudy will present to our students, with assemblies comprised of grade clusters (i.e.,

Kindergarten – grade 2; grades 3-5, respectively), so that she can address friendship

issues and social peer cruelty and in an age-appropriate manner. She will also

provide a staff in-service presentation later that day to help educators in their

ongoing efforts to promote safer social-emotional learning environments for our


Trudy has been featured in U.S. national media outlets including ABC’s “Good

Morning America,” PBS’s nationally syndicated show, “Keeping Kids Healthy,” Wall

Street Journal, Huffington Post, and the National Crime Prevention Council’s Circle of

Respect program. She has also served as an expert panel member on Sesame

Workshop’s video series addressing bullying. Her books (My Secret Bully, Just

Kidding, Sorry!, Trouble Talk®, Too Perfect, Confessions of a Former Bully, Better

Than You, The Invisible Boy, Gifts from the Enemy, and Quiet Please, Owen

McPhee!) have received international praise for addressing friendship and bullying

issues and for helping children in kindergarten – grade 8 connect and engage with

their peers in kinder, more inclusive ways.

ROAD CLOSURE: Crocker Lane NW will be closed to all through traffic from September 30-October 4, 2019.

Detour routes will be posted. Detours around work zone include NW Gibson Hill

Road, or NW Squire Street, or NW Valley View Drive. ONE LANE TRAFFIC DATES: Crocker Lane NW will also have one-lane traffic with Flaggers with some short delays from October 7 through October 11, 2019.

Students and adults will be encouraged to come dressed in costume and engage in fun games and fall activities. This is a great way to reconnect (or possibly meet for the first time) with your NAES school community!

Reminder to label belongings

It is very helpful for us to get lost items back to students if their names are on them. Please label outerwear, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc. We appreciate your help as our lost and found starts to grow.

Conferences by Appointment

NAE fall conferences are scheduled for:

Oct. 23rd - 4:40-7:40 pm (regular school day)

Oct. 24th - 8:00-11:20 am, 12:20-4:00 pm, 5:00-7:40 pm (no school)

Oct. 25th - no school or conferences

Sign up charts are located in the school office so please come select the time that is best for you.
