How to use key words effectively for finding information

When you are researching you want to make sure you take out the words that are not needed. For example if you were asking who invented the TV, you would only type in invent TV. Make sure you only use key words for what you are looking for.

How to decide whether your resource is credible or not

When you are looking for websites when researching you want to make sure the website is credible and not giving you false information . You want to look at the suffix of the website and look if it uses .gov, .edu . If the website ends in .com you really want to be careful. You know the website is credible when there is not a lot of ads on the side of the website. It is also credible when you can't edit others information they put out there.

The difference between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing

Quoting is where someone uses a sentence from a website, but puts it in quotes so they are not plagiarizing. Paraphrasing is using the authors ideas but putting it in your own words. Summarizing is when you are writing about what the author wrote and you are saying the main points that the author used. You only write a summary in a few sentences.

What plagiarism is and how to avoid it

Plagiarism is taking someone else ideas and using them as your own, or not citing and using it as your work. Some ways you can avoid it is by paraphrasing instead of copying and pasting, If you are using someone else work make sure that you do use citations because if you don't it is plagiarism.

What MLA citation is

MLA stands for Modern Language Association. It is a two part parenthetical documentation system for citing sources. You want to use this for your bibliography/ work cited page because using this way of citing makes it easier for others to read when referring to your sources.
