Principal's Message
We were delighted to see great student engagement for our Spirit Week! Please check out the pictures below.
I'd like to extend thanks and appreciation to all PUE students, staff and families. Thank you for making Pleasant Union a positive and happy place to learn, work, and grow! Best wishes to each family for a beautiful Thanksgiving! There will be no weekly message next week due to the short week! The Friday Message will resume on Friday, December 3rd.
School Lockdown Drill
In the next few weeks, we will have a practice lockdown drill. Lockdown drills are safety measures required by the school district. We practice lockdowns so that staff and students can familiarize themselves with safety procedures in the event of a threat to our campus. I am not allowed to disclose the exact date and time of the lockdown. Teachers will talk with students about this over the next few weeks.
PUE Who To Contact List
We have created a contact list so that you know who to connect with based on the information you need. Please see this document below.

Bring Back Our Library Campaign!
Part of the PUE mission is to ensure each student has access to a variety of learning resources, many of which are maintained in the school's wonderful Media Center. In recent years more than an insubstantial number of Media Center resources have been lost as a result of student transitions, damage and obsolescence. In line with its mission to continuously support the school, the PUE PTA feels the need to replenish these resources is imperative, and financial help is needed. If you are able, please consider a recurring or one-time donation to help support this integral aspect of our Panthers' educational experience! Donate here!
Media Center Volunteers
Parents can come at 8:15-8:45am or 3:45-4:15pm. You are welcome to bring your child to stay in the media center BUT they must be a current PUE student. The front office will have the computer set up so you can register as a new volunteer or reactivate your volunteer status and obtain your Criminal Record Check clearance for 2021-2022. Sign-up for the 2nd quarter here. If you have any questions, please email Media Chair Victoria Williams. Thank you for volunteering!
Did you know that November is PTA Healthy Lifestyles Month?
From PTA Wellness Team: (from http://www.pta.org) Prioritizing you and your families’ overall health is important to living happy, meaningful lives. Part of a healthy lifestyle is improving your family’s nutrition habits. Here are some tips from the National PTA to improve nutritional habits:
· Involve your Kids in Food Choices
o Include your kids when planning the weekly family menu.
o Look at your school’s website together to see what is being served, and decide if you will make breakfast and lunch at home or buy it at school.
o Shop for groceries together. Make a list before you go to the store and only buy foods on the list. Once in the store, let your kids help you find items on the list. Read food labels out loud and talk about the choices you are making.
o Invite your child to cook with you. They are more likely to try new foods if they’ve helped to prepare them.
o Hold family tastings. Buy different brands of healthy food (whole grain pasta, for example) and let family members decide what they like best.
· Snack Healthy
o Healthy snack ideas include:
o Fruits (sliced or cubed, applesauce or dried fruit without added sugar)
o Vegetables and dips (try carrots and ranch dressing, celery sticks and peanut butter, snap peas with hummus)
o Whole grains (pitas, tortillas, rice cakes, popcorn, granola)
o Low-fat dairy foods (yogurt)
o Nuts and trail mix
o Give your child a variety of healthy options, so there is no wrong choice.
· Reduce Sugar
o Offer water, low-fat milk or 100% fruit juice instead of juice drinks, sports drinks or soda.
o Do not give sweets or candy as a reward. Try nonfood rewards or family activities instead.
· Watch Your Own Habits
o Never skip meals, especially breakfast.
o Avoid fast-food restaurants by planning meals and snacks in advance, before leaving home.
o Eat only when you are hungry. Teach (and show) healthy alternatives to eating when bored, frustrated, anxious or sad. (Exercise, reading and working on a project are good options.)
o Enjoy family meals together whenever possible.
