Second Grade
Dear Second Grade Parents,
Happy New Year to you! We hope you had a lovely winter break with your families.
We got right back to work on Tuesday, focusing on the partial sums algorithm in math, reading in our book clubs, starting new word sorts, and learning more about Pacific Northwest Coast Native culture. We also welcomed back Mrs. Kaufman, who was on maternity leave last fall!
Next Wednesday morning on January 10th, we are going on a field trip to Green Acres School with the third graders to view the "Building Bridges" photo exhibit. We hope you have had the chance to read Mr. Carroll's email regarding the exhibit. Thanks in advance to parents who are driving!
Finally, there is an upcoming event at the National Museum of the American Indian that may be of interest to you. "Winter Blast: A Family Weekend of Native Games" takes place on January 27-28, from 10:30 am - 5:00 pm. The games teach important skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and eye-hand coordination. Jeremy Red Eagle (Sisseton Wahpeton) of the International Traditional Games Society will be sharing these games of intuition and chance played in his community.
Stay warm this weekend!
Emilia and Rachel
