Superintendent Update
Cambrian School District, April 15, 2021
Dear Cambrian Families and Staff,
I am so pleased to share the progress made in the Cambrian School District to provide our students in-person learning this school year. Our students have been back in-person for approximately five weeks now. Given the changes from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that amended the physical distance guidance to be in alignment with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), we have greater opportunity to increase in-person learning for our students for the remainder of this school year.
The California Department of Public Health now provides K-12 schools the latitude to bring our students back to campus more regularly. Students can now maintain a minimum of 3 feet between each other in the classroom, where previously it was 6 feet. We have been working to assess our next steps and phase in returning students more regularly for the last few weeks of the school year. Our students deserve to be in-person for as much time as possible this school year before summer break.
As always, I want to make sure you are kept apprised of all our efforts moving forward as conditions improve to bring students back more regularly this school year. At tonight’s 7 p.m. board meeting, staff and our board will discuss our next phase with bringing students back to campus for more in person learning this school year. Our target date for increased in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year is Monday, May 3rd, for all students pending Board direction and approval.
More information as to definitive schedules will come out as we work through the last details. We have all been diligently working for this moment when we could return to full-day, in-person instruction for all of our students more regularly. We know nothing can replace in-person learning, so a huge thank you to the Cambrian staff, students and families for this one last change this school year. The last 13 months, we have all learned and worked together during these unique times. With a few weeks left this school year, we are committed to providing students more in-person learning with our phenomenal Cambrian teachers and staff.
I am so grateful for your dedication, support and flexibility. I will certainly keep you apprised as we move forward together as a united team. We are CAMBRIAN!
