Aviation Day
Monday, May 12th
Have fun learning in one full day the following:
- The basic skills to construct a model plane that flies.
- How to read a building plan with hands on experience.
- The basic terminology for different parts of an airplane.
- The proper way to trim a mode for flight.
- Why and how airplanes fly.
Learn to build and fly a model airplane in Model Building 101
The following will be provided in this one day course:
- The basic beginner's model kit, rubber motor, and propeller.
- A small cutting device with a safety handle, returned to teacher.
- A building board, glue, tape, and pins.
- Full step by step instructions during the building and flying process by an American Model Aviation Member, and the teacher.
Tim Lavender
Tim Lavender is the minister at Smyrna Church of Christ. He is also a member of the American Model Aviation Member.
He has been coming to MTCS for many years to teach our 5th graders!
A fun contest will be held in the gym at the close of the day by flying all the models that have been built by the students. Ribbons, and prizes will be awarded for the winners up through third place in each room. The cost will be seven dollars per student.

Yes, I want my child, ____________________ to participate in Model Building 101. I understand that he/she will be using a small cutting device to cut a few sticks of light balsa wood on the building board. I am including $7.00 for the model and it's construction, etc.
