Art with Mrs. Steffensen and Mrs. A. Miller
Our year in Art is winding down with students beginning that very zen-filled time of stitchery and weaving. The life skills and cooperative learning facilitated by these lessons are truly priceless. Tying knots, weaving and threading needles can be challenging. We are fortunate here at Crabapple Crossing to have kind and helpful students. Early finishers become helpers and it is heartwarming to see students become assistants to each other. And someday in the future, when a button falls off of a shirt, I am hopeful that these lessons will come in handy!
It’s also a great time to start looking for summer art opportunities.

As always, we are truly fortunate to spend time with our Colt Artists!
Happy Spring!
Counseling with Ms. Lundy
Physical Education with Mr. Abel and Mr. Sylvester
We hope you enjoyed your spring break. The warm weather brings us lots of sunshine to go outdoors and get some physical activity. This month in physical education we are finishing up our fitness testing for 4th and 5th graders. They will receive a comprehensive fitness report at the end of the school year. K-3 grades will be learning about softball/baseball skills and also lacrosse activities.
The Colt’s Cup fun run was held Saturday April 14th. We had perfect weather and some great times in the 1 & 2 mile races. Please see below for our winners.

Please make plans to attend and help out with our annual Olympic Field Day on Thursday May 17th. The opening ceremony starts around 8:00 AM and the K-2 events start at 9:15 with 3-5 events beginning at 11:30. If you would like to volunteer to work a station please arrive 45 minutes before your student’s grade time.
Music with Mr. DeStefano and Mrs. A. Williams
Students will also experience playing instruments that are appropriate for their grade level. For example, Mrs. Holcombe's fifth grade class has started learning how to play ukulele with Mrs. Williams. Also, our third grade students have probably started to entertain you with beginning sounds from their recorders. Understand that it will take time to learn and your support and patience will go a long way.
The Orff Ensemble and Chorus are just a few rehearsals away from their final concert of the year. Please join us for the Spring Chorus and Orff Ensemble Concert on May 10th at 6:30 PM. Chorus will be singing songs about travel and Orff Ensemble will be performing their version of the children's book Peezzetino by Leo Lionni. We hope to see you there!
