A grateful heart

My heart is grateful for...

....a picture of everyone in pink sending Kim off to her surgery the week before Spring Break! Thankfulness that she is doing well after her surgery, too.

...time away to refresh.

...all the efforts made for Open House prep.

We are 3/4 of the way done with this school year. That fact alone is unbelievable, frightening, and thrilling all at the same time. We have completed the cycle of getting to know students, settling in with them, beginning to feel like we are making progress and now face the "wake up in the middle of the night panic" feeling of not enough time to get everything done.

All of us have learned things this year about ourselves, our teammates, our students and our parents. Sometimes that's been positive, and sometimes it's been hard. Hopefully you feel as though you've added to your skill through the learning you've done, the observations you have made and the reflections you've completed after lessons that went well or didn't.

As I've gotten older, whatever wisdom I have accumulated includes the belief that it's important to enjoy and savor the days that you are given. This is probably even more applicable to me after my recent health issue...none of us know when life as we know it will come to an end, but what we can do is love those whom we meet each day and laugh and treasure the moments in spite of the challenges. I've also come to believe with all my heart that while we want our students to excel, the most important thing we can do for them is provide love and guidance as we attempt to help them become good people. As we enter the season of testing and finishing the year, please always keep that foremost in your thoughts.

Open House

It seemed that our families thoroughly enjoyed the format that we employed for Open House. If you have feedback to share about the changes we made, please make sure you've communicated either to me or to your team leader before the CMT meeting at the beginning of April.

My favorite quote from this week....

The happiest people don't have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.
