Chapman Staff Update
September 28, 2019
Week 5:
What a week. Thank you for all the support this week and for a productive learning experience in our PD sessions on Friday. I appreciate all the hard work. We are coming up on a busy week with goal meetings and other events/meetings throughout the week. Don't forget that 4th and 5th grade teachers have SIS training on Tuesday. Here is the schedule (scroll over to 4th and 5th):

PBIS Clubs:
Please fill out what PBIS Club idea you have, a description and any materials that may be needed. Please remember that there are to be no technology devices involved. Thanks everyone! I am excited about this addition to our PBIS Program!

Goals Meetings: We will review the goal you submitted at the end of last year. Remember your goal needs to reflect an indicator on the rubric. I can help in writing the goal, but come to the meeting prepared with an idea and plan for collecting evidence.
Be prepared to talk me through your thinking. Here are the questions to consider:
How does this goal align with the school/district initiatives?
How is this goal an opportunity for student learning?
How is this goal an opportunity for teacher learning?
* What questions do I hope to answer through my work in this focus area?
*How will I learn? How will I build my skill level? What resources might I need? What resources are available to me?
*How and when will I use the new information/skill? What is my instructional approach?
*How will I assess my professional growth in this learning area? How will I know if this approach is producing desired student (or teacher) results?
Morning Assistance: Please Actively Supervise once students enter the building at 8:25 AM
5th Grade Literacy Footprints PD: October 9th 12:30-3:30 (Please put in for a full day sub for this)
Think Sheets: Until further notice, please use the PBIS Think Sheets that have been provided for you. I have seen a couple of versions floating around which is difficult to keep track of. We are trying to streamline our practices. If you have a think sheet that you prefer, please send it to the PBIS committee for review. We are open to change, but want to be consistent. Also, Think Sheets should be done in the classroom or with a partner classroom and the teacher should review with the student. Please do not send a student to the office with a think sheet. Please also do not send students to the office for lunch recess to complete a think sheet. A parent needs to be contacted when a think sheet is completed. If you have further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask.
PREVIOUS WEEK IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Indoor Recess: EEEEK! I don't want bad weather but we need to be prepared for it. Please make sure that you review indoor recess expectations AND have appropriate activities your class can participate in posted on the inside of your door. Remember you may not always have the same lunch monitor for indoor recess so we need the information in one spot. There may be times we can use the gymnasium but we will need to work our some procedures for that before we are able to do it.
ASSESSMENT RESULTS: Results from all of our assessments should be recorded in Illuminate in a timely fashion after the assessment. We will use Illuminate to house all of our assessment data so we can access and compare it easily.
E-BLAST and NEWSLETTER: Please Help! Please sign up for a month/week that you want to share what your class or grade have been learning. These E-blast items must be program/curriculum related and pictures should be included. This is your time to showcase your students to the community! The same idea applies to the newsletter. You are always welcome to send me items for the parent newsletters but I have created a schedule for everyone. Families love to see what their children are doing at school and love pictures. This way I will always have a grade level or activity to showcase in the building every week. Here is the link to the schedule:
