We have lots of events planned for the month of October with PTO's fall festival, our Fall book fair, family spirit dining night, and Trunk or Treat. Check out the flyers below for our Book Fair, Trunk or Treat event, and Tijuana Flats family dining night.
Innovation Lab Happenings
Here's a big shout out to Mrs. Shaw for converting our media center into a hands-on Innovation Lab. Check out the pictures from our Lab below. A message from Mrs. Shaw:
"Our Innovation Lab has been off to a busy and exciting start! Elementary students are learning the engineering and design process, inspired by literature, to explore the world around them in new and exciting ways.
What's been going on in K-2?
- After reading The Most Magnificent Thing, Students used their creative minds to invent a new "thing" using miscellaneous materials.
- We've investigated gravity by designing and making "divers" that would make the biggest splash.
- Students had a fun learning about ramps and their use in the world. They even built and tested ramps!
What's grades 3-5 been up to?
- After reading The Dot, students tapped into their creativity by trying to come up with different ways to transform given circles into everyday items.
- Students completed a teamwork and problem solving challenge where they competed with other teams and classes to create the longest paper chain given the same exact amount of materials (Congrats to Jaek, Vinny, Jordan, and Najee for a record setting 250 inch long chain!!)
- We've explored Newton's 1st Law by flipping water bottles utilizing obstacles.
We are looking forward to so many more fun and exciting builds and challenges throughout the year. Thank you all for your contributions to get this up and running.
- Mrs. Stephanie Shaw"

FTE Week - October 11 - 15
Regular student attendance is important for student learning and progress throughout the school year. The state's financial support for schools is also directly linked to student attendance. To ensure our attendance records are counted for maximum state funding this school year, please have your child attend school each day from October 11 to October 15.

ADVANCED READING CHALLENGE
Hello Imagine Parents and Guardians!
Last week we began rolling out our 13th annual Advanced Reading Challenge for students in grades 3 through 8. If interested, your child should have received a packet during their Media special. The purpose of the ARC is to challenge students to read 25 books over the course of one school year and complete 25 personal creative reflections (projects) based on the books genre. Students who read and report on the designated number of books, will receive a $50 Barnes and Noble Gift Card and be recognized nationally by Imagine Schools. The book list, project list, and ARC contract are attached below. Students are able to borrow books from our school library, however we do not have all titles. Public libraries would be a good place to source books as well. The contract, found on/around page 10 of the student packet, is to be filled out and returned by September 30th to Stefanie Shaw in the media center or at stefanie.shaw@imagineschools.org
We hope that by taking on this challenge, students will stretch themselves as readers and learners, enjoy some great new books, and model achievement and excellence for their friends and peers.
Regards,
Stefanie Shaw
