AVID Senior Spotlights

Tarrant County Food Bank

60 AVID scholars had the opportunity to volunteer at Tarrant County Food Bank. Students were tasked with creating emergency boxes for area senior citizens and home bound individuals. AVID students ranging from grades 9th-11th teamed up and were able to box a total of 550 boxes which is equivalent to 14,302 meals.Sophomore AVID teacher Casey Hostetter took lead on this and helped build another connection for BISD and Haltom High.

AVID Students Give Back

AVID students grades 9-12 are expected to obtain a total of 90 volunteer hours before graduation. AVID 1 students divided into service groups based on personal interest, researched local businesses in the community and scheduled a time to volunteer.
