Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat… Virtual Families
Hello Lakeside Families!
This is Mrs. Smith, the principal at Lakeside. I am reaching out this evening to our families who have chosen virtual learning for the start of the school year with some important information.
Your student has been registered for the virtual learning path for the 2020-2021 school year. School begins on Thursday, August 6. There will be a device and textbook pickup in order to get needed materials to our virtual students on Tuesday, August 4 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Lakeside. Kindergarten students will receive a school-issued iPad. 4th-grade students should return their Chromebooks and chargers so that they can receive a school-issued iPad. All other students should use the device that was issued last spring. If you did not receive a device, a device will be issued to you on Tuesday evening. As a reminder, this is a drive-thru pick-up. We will have signs that will direct you to the east side of the building. Please remain in your car. Staff will come to your car to retrieve the needed information and will bring materials to you. Please remember if your child will be a 4th grader, they will need to return their Chromebook and charger and will receive an iPad.
I know the first day of school is coming quickly and you are eager to learn more about your student's teachers and classes. Your student's virtual teacher will contact you by Wednesday, August 5th to share information.
Thank you so much for your patience and support! We are looking forward to starting our 20-21 school year next week!
Take care. Be safe. And have a great weekend!

Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat… In-Person Families
Hello Lakeside Families!
This is Mrs. Smith, the principal at Lakeside. I hope you’ve had a great week! I want to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year and provide you with some important information. School begins on Thursday, August 6, and we are excited to begin a new year with our students!
We will be hosting a Back to School Night for our students and families next Tuesday, August 4. Please listen carefully to the following information.
On Tuesday, August 4 from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, we will host a Back to School Night for our students who will be attending school in person. Grades 1 - 4 will hold Back to School Night virtually. We will host three sessions to meet the scheduling needs of families. The first session will begin at 4:30 pm and end at 5:00 pm. The second session will begin at 5:15 pm and end at 5:45 pm. The third session will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 6:30.
We are offering an in-person Back to School Night for our Kindergarten students only on August 4 as well. Kindergarten teachers will hold several face-to-face mini sessions. We are asking that kindergarten students are accompanied by no more than 2 adults for the event to assist us with minimizing the number of people in our classrooms so that we can meet our social distancing guidelines. Parents and students are required to wear a mask to our Back to School Night event. The first session will take place from 3:30 pm - 3:50 pm. The second session will take place from 4:00 pm - 4:20 pm. The third session will take place from 4:30 pm - 4:50 pm. The fourth session will take place from 5:00 pm - 5:20 pm. The fifth session will take place from 5:30 pm - 5:50 pm. The sixth session will take place from 6:00 pm - 6:20 pm. The time between the sessions will be used to wipe down the area.
Our staff will greet you at door 1 of our main entrance and show you to your child’s classroom at your schedule time. This will provide your kindergarten student an opportunity to meet his or her teacher and locate his or her classroom before their first day of school. Parents will not be allowed to accompany students into the school building on the first day of school so this will provide your kindergarten student an opportunity to meet his or her teacher and locate his or her classroom before their first day.
Please remember students in grades 1 - 4 will have virtual back to school night meetings. Only kindergarten students will have in-person meetings.
Your child’s teacher will be contacting you on Monday, August 3 to introduce themself and provide more information about Back to School Night.
We are looking forward to the start of the school year and can’t wait to connect with our students! Take care. Be safe and have a great weekend!

A Message from Dr. Hanson
July 29, 2020
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff
This is Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township.
We are a little over 1 week away from our first day of 2020-2021 school year, which is Thursday, August 6th. Many of our school and district staff are in our buildings getting ready for students to return. Our teachers officially return on Monday, August 3rd.
As we continue to schedule for our IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL students , create bus routes for our IN-PERSON and our ALTERNATING Day students, and ensure our students, staff, and families have what they need to start the year safely, I want to provide some important updates.
ParentVue is our new Parent Portal for communicating information with our parents. ParentVue activation letters were mailed to families this week. For our families without an address on file, they will need to complete the Google Form located on the Parent Portal page under the Parents tab. Once activated, parents will be able to access bus information, teacher information, and other student information in their ParentVue account.
For those students who will be riding a bus to and from school, you can expect to receive a personal phone call from your child’s bus driver prior to the first day of school. Each driver will make two attempts in contacting their families. With the addition of our new ParentVue, we will no longer be mailing bus stop information. If you do not receive a call or have questions about transportation, please call 317-532-2820.
For families who are participating in the VIRTUAL only model, you can expect to receive additional information over the next few days. If you have specific questions about the VIRTUAL experience, you can either contact your child’s home school or you can contact our Office of Curriculum and Assessment / Student Programming at 317-869-4349.
As part of our strategic planning process last school year, one of the consistent themes we heard from our Warren families and employees was the need for improved communication. As part of our response, each month, the district will share electronic newsletters with timely information. The July newsletter is attached to this email and will be available in English and Spanish on our website under the Newsroom tab.
I believe feedback is a gift and helps us improve. As we continue to navigate through this uncharted territory, I welcome your feedback to help us make the Warren experience exceptional for our students, families, and staff.
Thank you for your continued support and investment in Warren students and schools.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
