Welcome to 4th Grade!
Well....almost....let's enjoy summer first! :)
WELCOME!
Welcome to all the new families that will be coming to 4th grade next year. I am so excited to get to know you and your child over the next year. I am also very excited to welcome back some special families and students that I had the pleasure of teaching 5 years ago (wow!!) as kindergartners. I can't wait to see how you have grown!
Take a Look Around
This blog will be a major way that I communicate this year. Take some time this summer to look around, check out resources and even subscribe so you get every update. Not only will this be a source of information, but it will be a place where your family can go to find reading, math and other resources for extra practice this summer and throughout our school year. I will be posting some things this summer so check back often!
Some Great Reading Programs!
Continuing to encourage your child to read over the summer is so important. We are lucky here in Columbia to have some programs that help you do just that! Two programs that are fun and easy are through Daniel Boone Regional Library (http://www.dbrl.org/programs/summer-reading/2016) and Barnes and Noble (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/summer-reading/_/N-rs9). Students can keep track of their reading and earn free books!
Math!
Summer is a great time to brush up on math concepts. Below is a fun calendar for June that will give your family some fun ideas of how to add math and other areas into your every day activities (http://blog.teachersnotebook.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Summer_STEM_Calendar_Page_07.jpg).
Something that is very important in 4th grade is mastery of basic multiplication facts. Please help your child practice these facts throughout the summer. Under the math resources on this blog are some fun websites and ideas on how to do this!
