Friendship Week December 6-10

We are excited to announce that our Project Vinátta students have planned a "Friendship Week" starting on Monday, December 6th! Did you know that Vinátta is the Viking term for friendship? Our goal is to promote and show kindness and respect for all, and next week we would like to encourage everyone in our school to be a great friend! Here is what we are doing next week:


Monday--"Everyone Has a Name": Greet people today by saying their name. If you do not know their name, introduce yourself and ask them their name.


Tuesday--"Nobody Eats Alone": Make sure you include everyone around you in your conversations at lunch today. While making sure to keep your voice levels appropriate for the cafeteria, make sure that everyone around you is included in a conversation.


Wednesday--"Nobody Plays Alone": During recess today, make sure that everyone has someone to play with. Some people like to play by themselves, and that is ok, but make sure to ask them just in case.


Thursday--"Give a Smile Day": Smile to at least 10 different people today.


Friday--"Favorite T-shirt Day": Wear your favorite t-shirt, and compliment, or ask others about their shirts and why it is their favorite.

FREE * LVES Student & Family Movie Nite *

When: Fri, Dec 10, 6-8pm

Where: LVE Cafeteria

What: The Polar Express Pajamas & Popcorn Party

Parents and kids encouraged to wear pajamas and bring blankets or chairs. LVE PTO is providing popcorn, cookies and water. Each child will receive a golden ticket on entry.

Tardies

We are seeing an increase in tardies. An important component in the classroom is morning greeting and meeting where students are able to continue building relationships with their teachers and peers which happens first thing in the morning. If your student is entering through the front of the building after 7:40, they are missing this special time that helps set the stage for a successful day. If tardy, please make sure to park and walk your student up to the front doors to sign them in.

Early Pick-Ups

If you are needing your child early, we can bring them right out to the lobby for you- curbside service! :) We ask that you arrive no later than 1:45 to pick your student up. If you arrive after this time, you will not be able to pick your student up until regular dismissal time. This is to preserve our dismissal processes which ensure the safety of all of our students and that everyone gets home the way their parents intended. Please help us help you!

A December to Remember!

We are going to make this December one to remember! With school decorations, daily trivia contests, and dress up days, we hope this is the best December yet! Below are our planned dress-up days! Feel free for your students to participate as much or as little as you'd like!

IMPORTANT! PLEASE COMPLETE ANNUAL STUDENT REGISTRATION FORMS IN ASCENDER PARENT PORTAL!

If you have not done so, it is important that you complete the annual registration process ASAP. This must be completed each year because these forms provide us with important permissions and information that must be provided annually. Students without completed registration forms will begin to lose certain privileges until they are completed, so please take a moment to submit those forms in Ascender.

WHAT IF I HAVE A NEWLY ENROLLED STUDENT? WHAT IF DON'T SEE MY ENROLLED STUDENT IN ASCENDER PARENT PORTAL?
If you enrolled your student during summer enrollment, you must still complete annual registration forms. If you don't see your enrolled student when you log in, an Ascender Parent Portal ID is needed in order to link to your student and complete the annual registration forms.

Please email your campus registrar to receive your student's Ascender Parent Portal ID. Please note that there may be slight delays in answering requests during peak times, such as this, but we will get it to you as quickly as possible!

Once you receive your student's Ascender Parent Portal ID from the campus registrar, please log into Ascender Parent Portal, select "Link to Enrolled Student", and enter the Parent Portal ID and the student's date of birth.

WHAT IF I SEE MY STUDENT, BUT DON'T HAVE A "REGISTRATION" OPTION?
In order to complete forms or update data for a student, the email address you have listed in Ascender Parent Portal must match what we have in our system. If you can see your student, but can't update any information, those email addresses do not match. We recommend updating and verifying your email address in Ascender Parent Portal. If you need us to change your email address in our system, please email registration@lagovista.txed.net and your campus registrar. You will be asked to provide your student's full name, date of birth, and grade level for verification purposes.

Water Bottles

Friendly reminder to please send a water bottle with your child each day. Our water fountains are not being used at the moment.

Remote Conferencing Opportunity for Isolated or Quarantined Students

Lago Vista ISD students may be eligible to participate in remote conferencing for attendance purposes in the event they are unable to attend face-to-face instruction on campus. Students are eligible for remote conferencing if both of the following requirements are met:


  • The student is unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition; AND

  • The total amount of remote conferencing does not exceed more than 20 instructional days over the entirety of the school year.


A student who is absent due to other reasons not listed above will not qualify to participate in remote conferencing and will be marked absent each day he/she is not physically present in school.


In addition to the two requirements above, one of the following requirements must also be met:

  • The student’s temporary medical condition is documented by a physician licensed to practice in the United States; OR

  • The student has a positive test result for a communicable condition (such as COVID-19); OR

  • The student has been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.


Students in remote conferencing instruction will continue to work on class assignments via Seesaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas, and receive synchronous (live) assistance from a designated Remote Conferencing teacher. To the extent possible, a dedicated certified teacher will be designated to provide remote conferencing throughout the duration of students’ time in this setting, but it will not be the students’ teacher of record. In addition to working on assignments, students will be required to attend daily attendance meetings that will count for the day’s attendance and keep your child within the 90% attendance rule while out temporarily.


You will be notified by ParentLink with specific remote conferencing instructions and Google Meet links if your child qualifies for this temporary opportunity. If your child receives a close contact notification from the school, there will be a link to a form to complete if you wish for your child to participate in remote conferencing.

Is Your Child Going to be Absent?

If your child is going to be absent, please email Christine_Harris@lagovista.txed.net your student's name, teacher's name, and the reason they are absent. She will take care of the rest!

PTO News

The LVES Parent Teacher Organization creates opportunities for parents, teachers, and students to learn, socialize, communicate, and grow!


Our non-profit organization is dependent on monetary donations to supply our school with everything the children need to have an amazing and above average elementary school experience. Funds raised go directly to the requests of our teachers and staff to enhance classroom materials and our student’s learning environment. We also host some exciting extracurricular events to bring students and their families together outside of school hours! By becoming a member of the PTO you are showing your support and school spirit for Lago Vista Elementary.
