We continued our Habitat theme this week and discussed Desert, Ocean, and Polar habitats. Exploring these habitats helps us explore the living and non living standard for Kindergarten.

Through the use of a great online resource called Pebble Go we are able to read about each habitat and the animals that live and adapt to each one.

We will continue addition through next week. We have been working in guided math stations this week adding numbers up to 20! We created a giant number line and make real frog jumps to add numbers. Some friends are working on fact families and double digit adding! We also dabbled in some simple word problems and learned how to identify key words.

Daily 5/ Team time

Team Time has been a huge success! We are two weeks in and I already seeing some changes with the targeted word work. Ask your child about spelling Twister!

In Daily 5 the word work focus has been on blends and digraphs and we are writing silly sentences in the writing center. We are practicing writing responses to the beginning, middle, and end of books in the listening center. Guided reading is also going well. Some groups are practicing how to writea reader's response to text.

The Science Fair was HUGE success! I loved excitement and interest in Science activities. Thank you for all our help! We are still deciding on what to do with our $100 prize. Some friends asked for computers and time machines, but I think we are leaning towards caterpillars and creating a Science corner in the room :)

This week we learned about how blubber keeps animals warm in ice water. Ask your child about it!
