Growing, Learning and Achieving Together

Dear Spartan Families,

It’s hard to believe that we have reached the end of another year albeit, another year filled with unique successes and challenges. All of us at Centreville Public School are so proud of how our students, our families and our community have managed the challenges we have faced over the past year and a half. Again , we have experienced unprecedented levels of engagement, patience and adaptability within our student body under very difficult circumstances and the results have been impressive. I would like to take this opportunity to offer a collective “WELL DONE!” to everyone!

Even as we put the finishing touches on the 2020-2021 school year, the staff at CPS is busily engaged in the planning for next year. Many important decisions need to be made before we can say decisively what the fall will look like. In the meantime, our tentative class structure is outlined below:

At this time, would like to offer our sincerest thanks to Mr. Adam Benzce. You have been a terrific asset to us at Centreville Public School, Mr. Benzce. You will be missed more than you can know. We wish you all the very best in your future roles with the LDSB.

We extend a huge thank you to Ms. Christina Quaresma who will be leaving us at the end of this school year! Ms. Quaresma and her husband are anxiously expecting their first child in the fall, and we wish them all the very best for the exciting year ahead! Thank you and congratulations, Ms. Quaresma!

We also want to thank Ms. Brittany East for her wonderful work with our Grade 3/4 class and in her role with Special Education. You have become a valued member of the CPS family, Ms. East, and we are going to miss you! We wish you all the very best in your future roles with the LDSB.

We also want to welcome back Ms. Kate Minielly from her year away from Centreville Public School. We know that Ms. Minielly has already been preparing for her return and is anxious to rejoin the Centreville community. Welcome back, Ms. Minielly!

We are also thrilled that our Educational Assistants, Ms. Tonya Duffy and Ms. Liana Parr have expressed their intention to rejoining our team next year! We are hoping that these placments will be confirmed in the next week or so. We are so happy that you are planning to be back with us Ms. Duffy and Ms. Parr! Your skills and expertise are invaluable to our students and staff!

Thank you to the members of our Parent Advisory Committee and for the leadership of Ms. Katelyn Lockridge and Michele Cornacchia-Elvidge whose constant support of our school and our students is so very much appreciated. We missed some of our favorite events this year and look forward to next year and celebrating together again as a community!

We are very excited to announce that our gym will be getting a new floor this summer. In addition, we look forward to working with our Parent Council and Evergreen Consulting to begin the work to create a Master Plan for our school yard! Stay tuned!

Congratulations to our Grade 8 Graduates, and we wish them all the very best the world has to offer in the coming years as they enter this next stage in their lives. We will miss them greatly, but they know they are always welcome at Centreville Public School!

Report cards are being completed and we are currently developing a plan where families can pick up their belongings, drop off borrowed technology and pick up end of year reports. We anticipate that this will happen during the last couple of days of the school year (June 23/24). Please stay tuned!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the school community for the support and enthusiasm you have shown me over the past seven years. I will miss the students, families and staff at Centreville PS immeasurably! May each of you enjoy all the very best the world has to offer in the furture!

Finally, we wish all of you a safe and happy summer season! May you all find time to relax and spend time with family!

Take good care, everyone!

Registration continues for the 2021-2022 School Year!

Kindergarten programs in Ontario offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds. At Centreville PS, our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In Kindergarten classrooms, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs.

Online registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Register your student here http://bit.ly/LDSBregistration2021 or feel free to pass this information on to anyone you know that is planning to register their child this year. Please direct Centreville PS newcomers to our website at centreville.limestone.on.ca for more information about registering for Kindergarten.

We recognize this year has been different due to COVID-19, and we have learned a great deal from our experiences these past months. We are proud of the way our students and staff have responded to these challenges, and we continue to work closely with our partners at KFL&A Public Health to ensure health and safety protocols are in place and appropriate. The health and safety of students and staff is our priority.

You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments.

We look forward to meeting with you and your child.

Thank you for choosing Centreville PS. We want everyone to see themselves in Limestone.

Tri-Board Student Transportation has indicated there will likely be more bus delays and cancellations this year due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Transportation to and from school is not guaranteed. Families should have a backup plan to transport their student(s) to school, and to arrange child care where required, if their bus is cancelled for any reason and they cannot transport their student to school. For more information about how to subscribe for e-mail notifications from Tri-Board regarding delays and cancellations, please download the instructions found at the link below.
