Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
Happy New Year!
Good health, good luck and much happiness throughout the Year of the Dog.
Please join our belated CNY celebrations on Tuesday 27 February. We will have a professional lion dance team in the playground to entertain us all from around 8.45 am. Please come and join in the celebrations. This display will be followed by Year 1 and 2 students sharing some items in the Centre for their parents and families. We look forward to seeing you there. Other CNY assemblies have been scheduled on the same day from 12.00-12.45 and 2.15-3.00 pm. If your child is involved, you will have been sent an invitation to attend. Sadly we can’t fit the entire community in the Centre to watch.
School Closure
It’s been an odd time in school without the children here with us! Nowhere near as interesting and lively as it usually is. We miss them! We’ve made the most of our time at school during the closure to do further professional development, collaborative planning and be organised and ready for returning on Monday 26 February. Staff are all involved in professional development again today in preparation for our IB and CIS school evaluation visit in the future.
We hope you are all managing to stay well and that the kids are being kind to you all! We know it’s not easy to manage home learning within busy schedules. The teachers have tried hard to send learning that is accessible to the students and we are mindful that this adds extra pressure on parents and caregivers too. Thanks for working with us and helping your child to do some of the tasks that were set. The last batch of home learning was set yesterday. It’s very difficult to make up 2 weeks of learning within our already tight calendar.
The learning the students are doing at home during this time does and will make a difference. Please ask your children to do what they can and ensure that the children also get a holiday during the CNY - it’s not expected that home learning will continue during this time.
Many thanks on behalf of the staff at Glenealy and Happy New Year!
