4th Quarter Schedule
FMS, KMS, and KHS families & staff
Thank you for your patience as we prepare for the addition of the every day in person learning option in the fourth quarter.
Families need to make their decision by Monday, March 15.
We’ve received some common questions from families seeking more information to aid their decision making. Below are some short answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
Principals Tim Jensen and Brian Graves also answer questions and provide more details in this 20 minute video recorded earlier today.
Q. How will hybrid schedules work?
The expectation is students will continue learning every day in any schedule chosen.
For their in-person days, hybrid students will join the “every day” students in the classroom for instruction by their teacher.
For remote days, teachers will these instructional methods for students for remote days:
One method can be described as “flipped” where students are assigned work to prepare for their in person learning days. Some examples include reading, watching instructional videos, researching topics, or other activities.
The method would be for students to participate virtually with the in person class. This can be at the same time via a virtual classroom (zooming) or by viewing a recording of the instruction.
Teachers will choose which method best supports their class.
Q. For students who choose the hybrid model, what are the expectations for the days they are not in person?
The expectation is students follow the directions of their teachers and complete the work and activities to be ready for their in-person learning days with other students.
Q. How will attendance be taken in the hybrid?
No change to current practice. A student’s attendance will be taken on their in-person day and it will count for their remote day. Students are expected to do the activities assigned by the teacher for their remote day. If a student struggles to complete work or is making poor progress the school will contact the family and potentially recommend a student to return to in person every day.
Q. The advantage of the hybrid is small class sizes and physical distancing, how will this be accomplished with students also attending 5 days a week?
Physical distancing will be limited which is why students will continue to wear masks, wash or sanitize their hands, physically distance where possible, and stay home when sick. Mask use also will allow for reduced quarantine times for students.
Q. If my child starts one schedule and wants to change is that possible?
Schools will work with families. Parents should contact the school if they have concerns.
Q. Can my child sign up for Blue/Gold for one class and attend every day for another?
Please contact the school to discuss what your families needs are.
Q. What is the early release schedule bell schedule for schools (except Initial Point) on Fridays?
Elementary schools 1:35
Kuna Middle School 12:16
