We have had a busy week! Please read carefully as there are a lot of important reminders about the structure/routines of our day, as well as upcoming events!

With the increasing amount of "digital" information, it is going to be essential that you have an email on file with us that you check daily. In addition to the email, sign up for our class REMIND service to make sure you don't miss any important information this school year! In order for your child to be successful, we also have to be on the same page! We really value our home/school connections and relationships! It truly does make a HUGE difference! If you need help signing up for REMIND please let us know!

It is important for your child to learn good study habits and routines at home.

Sitting down with him/her and laying out expectations for homework structure is crucial to your child's success in our classroom.

Parent Tips:

-Check your child's"Daily Duties" course each night

-Provide a quiet environment during reading time with limited distractions

What Did You Do At School Today?

....Have you ever asked this of your student and gotten the reply of "nothing"? -- Here's what we have been working on! Ask your child to share with you what he/she has been working on in each of these subject areas! Our brains are really working on over time! Whew!

Math: UNIT 1: Place Value - We've been working on rounding/estimating/adding and subtracting large numbers.

ELA: This week we learned about setting goals for ourselves to maximize our learning. As your child what "SMART" stands for!

Writing: We're starting to talk about our life as a writer. This week we're learning how to set up our "Writer's Workshop" and will begin practicing what we're responsible for during this time!

Spelling: We introduced our sorting routines. This week we all had the same sort to practice expectations. Next week sort groups will begin!

S.S: Our focus is state government! We're going to be learning about the 3 branches of government and the process of how a bill becomes a law!
