Message from Mr. Ali - All Means All
Dear Poupard Families,
I'm meeting with all of our students tomorrow in two separate Town hall meetings relaying my expectations for all of the learners at Poupard. Our staff will continue to emphasize, model and place a high level of importance on the things listed below:
All Poupard students are expected to be Safe.
All Poupard students are expected to be Respectful.
All Poupard students are expected to be Learners.
All Poupard students are expected to be Leaders.
Poupard will work tirelessly to provide this environment for all learners because our families value these traits.
I encourage you to ask your learner:
How they are being a safe at school?
How are they respecting others at school?
What are you learning at school?
How are you leading at school?
Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders
Morning arrival and after school pickup is a chaotic time of the day; similar to when you attend a sporting event, the traffic is simply just unavoidable. The staff and Poupard families shared goal and responsibility is to keep kids safe throughout the entire arrival and dismissal process.
Here are some general reminders for all families:
- Pull your vehicle close to the curb to prevent occupying more than one lane.
- Stay in parked cars as you pickup your child around the circle.
- Place your child's carseat on the rear passenger side.
- Avoid parking in front of cones.
- Wherever possible, park on the same side of the street of the school.
- Cross at the end of the street where STOP signs are located with your child to avoid moving traffic.
- Be patient.
- Our neighbors enjoy peace and quiet. Use car horn only when safety is a concern.
- Park only in designated parking areas in the parking lot.
Lastly, our School Improvement Team is working on a few additional ways to ensure arrival and dismissal runs as smooth as possible with that shared goal in mind. We will share additional anticipated changes in the coming weeks. Thank you for your support and partnership in keeping our learners safe!
Children's Emotional Intelligence - Family Center News
Bart Bronk, head of school at University Liggett, will discuss children's emotional intelligence (EQ) and why that measure strongly predicts success in a number of life areas, including school. Learn what every parent should know about the "anchor" EQ disposition of empathy, the ability to to feel with another, and its development, expression, and viability in the digital age. You'll leave with a renewed commitment to carefully tend to the empathic lives of children and to emply empathic responses to strengthen relationships.

Leader in Me Common Language
The Leader in Me follows the 7 Habit of Highly Effective People. Habit number 1 is Be Proactive. Part of being proactive is understanding your Circle of Influence and your Circle of Control.
Your Circle of Influence is all of those things that you do not have control over, such as other peoples' thoughts, words, actions, and attitudes, as well as things such as the weather.
Your Circle of Control is anything you do have control over - your thoughts, words, actions, attitudes, efforts, and behaviors.
Focusing on your Circle of Influence is reactive. Focusing on input from outside yourself often results in negative feelings as well as feeling like things are out of control.
Focusing on your Circle of Control is proactive. You can determine what your actions and attitudes are, resulting in a much more positive outlook, and allowing you to feel that you are in control of your own life.
