ASB
Last week SHS competed against St. Helens in our Centennial Showdown, hosted by SHHS last Friday night. Not only did we win the game, but our school raised $512.48, and combined with St. Helens, we raised a total of $705.46 for our local food bank. Our senior class raised the most money, and as a result, were awarded 25 spirit points!
We also competed in a community-wide clothing drive, all donations went to the Grant watts costume/clothing exchange last Friday. Again, our senior class brought in the most clothes and as a result, they earned 25 additional spirit points!
Seniors
The senior class has been working on bringing back our SHS Teacher of the Month recognition program. We are partnering with Eric Gantenbein from Country Financial, to highlight our hard-working SHS teachers. Also this week, the senior class met with Jostens to go over cap/gown and invitation orders, in preparation for graduation on June 3rd, 2023
Sophomores
Your Sophomore class is putting together an SHS vintage t-shirt sale fundraiser. Check out their booth at our last home football game on Thursday 10/27. They've got some real oldies but goodies, and the price point is low-low-low-low!

*There have been some issues with the FAFSA website. It has been hit or miss for the past week. Hopefully, the site will be more stable in the coming weeks. Additionally, the FSA ID process is taking a bit longer this year, likely due to the new two-factor authentication. Students/Families should still try to obtain their FSA ID prior to completing the FAFSA/ORSA.
Scholarships:
It’s never too early to get started on scholarships. Check out the Scholarships Video on our Counseling Website for some good information on how to get the process started.
PERSONAL/SOCIAL
Meals:
The Scappoose School District is excited to offer nutritious meals to our students.
Free/Reduced Lunch Application
Scappoose High School also has a food pantry for students in need. Stop by the counseling office if you are in need or have any questions or even if you just need a snack.
Student breakfast and lunches are no longer free. Lunch is 3.75 and breakfast is 2.00. You can send money with your student and take it to the cafeteria or log into mealtime to add money to your account.
College and Career Week
Athletics
League championships are being clinched and pursued and playoff spots claimed as we move into late fall. The abundant sunshine was replaced by a few days of smoke but a welcomed shower and wind shift has cleared the air.
I would like to thank our families, student-athletes, coaches, and teachers for their flexibility and understanding as practices and games were canceled, rescheduled, changed, etc. due to the unhealthy conditions and OSAA/DEQ guidelines.
A special shout out to our band, cheerleaders, leadership crew, Fab Lab, and many others for making the Centennial Showdown with St. Helens such a rewarding experience for our community.
